That image of -.0mm chicken strips (with a confirmatory snot of melted rubber clinging to the sidewall) somewhat undermines your "limited slightly" comment mate ! I commuted on mine yesterday, and the brand new road rubbers I've just fitted illustrated a total lack of commitment on my behalf.
Blimey by the looks of that rear tyre you’re keen, despite the surprises you could meet on British tarmac.Respect fella.
First ride of the year on the Daytona, running great even on 5 month old petrol. Such a different engine character and exhaust note than the Thruxton, really enjoy the smooth changes with the quickshifter and direct throttle connection on the downshifts, the sometimes clunky gearbox is probably the only thing I'd like to improve with the Thruxton.
Yesterday, I went for a lovely trip on the M4 for a couple of junctions. That hadn't been my intention, strangely enough, but I had a brain malfunction and forgot the difference between east and west at the motorway junction
Saturday out on the bike - big loop across SE to mid west Wales, ending with “top gear road”. The average speed cameras are all poorly atm & seem to have spontaneously fallen over, so it’s good fun again…. Amazingly, there weren’t lots of fireballs/wrecks in the drop offs, but just lots of people out having fun…
I did some of the previous fest route on sunday with some friends, about 5 hours altogether. Not too busy out either
Proof of life! Steffy the Daytona is still alive and brightening up the suburbs of West London. (I wish that I could give you some photos of beautiful scenery and some exciting roads instead of an old Qashqai and litter, but hey, the Daytona's purdy).
May take my little Streety over to Gasoline Juice at Weedon Bec on Sunday, if the weather stays good.
Craig, that's great news . Mine coming out of hibernation next week and taking over commuting duties from the two fiddy. Did you fix it yourself or did it need a new head?
Sent it to my local garage who managed to heli coil without taking head off. The tool i had didn’t work, because all of the thread was completely stripped, hence why he managed to fix without removing.
Fitted new tyres on the TTR, Avon Supersport same as I have on the Daytona, makes sense if your switching between bikes. A few hours around the Dales to get them properly scrubbed in, Up to Skipton, across to settle, Ingleton, Hawes, Sedborough, quick stop at devils bridge then to the Wray bike meet on the way home. First time for me, way busier than i imagined. Scarecrow festival was on in the village also Very nearly posting in the TOTW section, after hours of riding the fast and twisty Dales roads without any "moments" I almost dropped the bike when stopped in a layby, rolled forward off its stand just as I got off, barely managed to catch it before the 200+kg got too much, thank god it wasn't a few seconds later and I'd have just watched it crash down. I've also been out on the Daytona this week, honest, just nowhere interesting.
Fair do’s - that Thruxton does look lovely & great to see so many bikes out on a sunny Friday while most of us have been stuck in work & about to go away for a business trip so no riding this weekend
Was yesterday actually so even sunnier, Wray bike meet is 1st Thursday of each month through the summer.
