Be interested to hear how things work with the gen 2 ECU clocks and stuff,Tony Will know how.
I did not and spent ages trying to get everything to work, eventually costing myself more money than I was planning,of course.

Yeah, I've spoken to two people who had gen 1 frames, gen 2 electrics and the 765 engine so it's possible.

One of them very kindly sent me the map from his ECU too so that's a big help.

The worst case is merely swapping in the ECU and clocks from a gen 3 Daytona which isn't that bad but we'll try the first route then see what happens.

First proper ride of the year across to Bridlington on the East coast.
Nice and sunny and the roads were fairy empty as was Brid itself.

Bike was a joy to ride - a few piccies:

  4. It looks gorgeous (and cold!) there. I can't believe how empty of people it is though.

The roads were very quiet going there and back and yes, the town and the prom were very quiet too.
Came back via B roads which were very empty so had a blast :)

It was cold but my gear kept me reasonably toasty so no complaints.

  6. Took my 09 Daytona for its first proper shake down after a year long rescue / rebuild. Always wanted one. Really happy with how it rides. Can’t believe how sharp the handling is, but best of all is that induction noise !
Seems easier to ride on the road than my old R6 but still loves to rev. Can’t wait to get it on track !

Do you have before and after pics? How far gone was she @Andy Griffiths ?

  8. The bike had been used as a year round commute and had suffered as a result.
Fork seals leaking, brakes binding, overcharging issue and running badly.

I tried to upload pics with the above post but the file size was too big. I’ll have another and run through what I’ve done so far.

The default picture size on modern phones is far too large a file size for the forum to manage Andy. Best to resize the image file before uploading, or set the camera to a lower definition setting.

Got out on Sunday for first ride of the year in between painting duties at home - amazing what a bit of motivation can do to speed things up (with the painting):D Neck was sore from all the nodding at the other bikeso_O

pro tip - have a spare battery charged up in case your other one runs flat - or don’t leave the park lights on under the dust cover:mad::) IMG_9189.jpeg

No update on the bike just yet but I did contact the insurance company to get an idea on the cost for the engine swap to the policy.... Drum roll.... 82 quid to change it today.

Though on a new policy it'll add 120 based on last year's information and the new engine

    That’s not bad Stephen P.
I didnt leave my battery on the trickle feeder and it is ready to dispose of.Wish I had a heated garage.
Had my Straytona 765 on the dyno today for mapping.Put a Peter Hickman Racing tuned engine and fancy(expensive, even second hand)exhaust system on/in the bike over the winter so the new map was essential.145bhp at the rear wheel and more importantly 90 nm torque. Will it make me faster??Here’s hoping.

Removed the rear sprocket today and fitted the new one to go with the new 520 pitch chain. Currently running 15/47 but after a chat with Tony I'm switching to the 16/46 setup which matches what the 765 has out of the factory, do not need to add more acceleration to an already torquey engine.

That’s interesting Stephen.I have run 15/46 these last 2 years(yes everywhere, bit lazy) and am going to try a 47 on Friday. After reading this I Will also give the 16/48 a go.Thanks for the info.

The standard gearing on the 675 is 16/47 so dropping one tooth at the front just added a bit more go over the top end, just need to adjust the Speedo as it'll be out a tiny bit more.

I've had a 520 chain before and dropping a bit of weight that way means I can enjoy a few extra snacks.

Waved my bike off as Tony Scott came to collect it. Excited to see how this ends and if it means I'll have an undertail 765 Daytona.

Also made a slight mistake above which I edited out, the standard gearing for the 765 is actually 16/46, silly google said it was 16/48 and after a weekend of it bugging me I checked the triumph parts page at world of triumph which confirms its actually 16/46, so fitted the 46 rear.

It looks a bit weird in the garage now without a bike, but fingers crossed it isn't long before I'm showing off the bike with its new engine

Tony Scott came to collect it!! Blimey you do have connections.
A 765 with with a gen 2 underseat exhaust will be awesome,a propper wolf in sheeps clothing(not to dis the gen 2 which is pretty wolf like already, but i think you know what i mean). When will your wolf be returning to your garage??
How do you spell lair/leir/wolfs house??

No idea just yet. It's all very see how it goes. I've spoken to two guys who have done similar with the same setup so best case its an engine swap and a few other bits and off we go or it becomes a bit more in depth which involves putting the gen 3 electrics on and making it all fit.

But the end result will be a fun bit of kit and like you said, a proper wolf in sheeps clothing, could have gone and got the 765 moto 2 Daytona but what's the fun in that when I can keep that stunning undertail look from the best gen of Daytona
