WOW Pleased you're even writing that Janey.: I recall a while back that a rider was found dead with a pheasant embedded in their visor!
**Jammy Bastard Alert** Got the tyre fitter round to swap my tyres off the stock wheels & onto the BST carbon’s bought from Rawhide here (always had my eye on a set since seeing a forum member at Oulton Park in 2014 with some) - note to anyone with a 675r, they need the r model specific spacers Been for two rides since swapping them over & wow, these things are simply epic. Bike feels like it’s floating on air, turns oh so fast & feels a lot more sprightly/easier to stop. Can’t wait to try really them out on track Yet another mod/reason I absolutely love being back on a svelte, nimble & punchy Daytona 675r - if you’re lucky enough to see a set up for sale, get them - it’s better than buying a litre bike for the same cash difference imo Thanks Rawhide
Very jealous, looks alone almost worth the money, but great to know they make a really noticeable difference to the already agile 675R, will make it easier to avoid those potholes I get that fast turning agile feeling for free* by swapping to and fro with the Thruxton and its heavy spoked wheels. (* if you discount the cost of buying the Thruxton)
Last ride out for the year today - not to cold and mainly dry on the roads so pretty enjoyable (apart from the stupid 40/50 limits on roads that should still be 60): And nice cup of tea before heading back home at Squires near Sherburn:
Not too cold??? You obviously had your Christmas thermals on. It's too cold for me to even go out to the garage, let alone drag one of the poor, shivering summer bikes out into the mud.
It was probably close to 8 degree's C and I did have thermal socks, vest and winter gloves but found I was just comfortable when riding. When I as drinking my tea, that is when i felt the cold
I had been planning to make a switch to the new Honda CBR600RR but..... that didn't happen and I'm left with the 675, it's still got a few issues but its a stunning machine so a few weeks ago I made a phonecall to one Tony Scott and a plan was hatched on what we could do with the bike.... I've taken the fairings off and tomorrow I'll be draining the radiator and removing the exhaust before fingers crossed it heads off for a lovely visit to Tony and his workshop. You can all have a nice guess at what is on the cards and hopefully in a couple weeks I'll be able to report back on what has happened to my Daytona
A new CBR 600 RR sounds like a great fun choice of modern bike.I think when Tony has worked his magic you’ll be glad you stuck with the Daytona. Guessing what you are going to have done… hhmm.A not to extreme skim and ported. Am i close??
Not even close. Think a bit more extreme. It'll still be a Daytona but with a couple extra cc Sent from my Pixel 8a using Tapatalk
"When I was young" sports bikes used to get slightly sharper, faster, lighter & generally better year on year. If you compared a 10y old middleweight sportsbike to that year's offering the improvements were substantial. Have you compared the spec's of your D675 to the current 600rr StephenP ?
Not really compared. The thing was my Daytona is 13 years old now and its been having a few issues with the engine for the past couple years which have resulted in me chasing them around the bike. I'd actually gotten to the point of giving up and getting something new and modern. Enter the CBR, which funnily enough all those years ago when I picked the 675 was in the last two, that undertail exhaust. I picked the 675 and 13 years later it felt like it was going to be a full circle moment getting something new this time around. This didn't happen and I've been left pondering what to do with the 675 which for some reason or another I hadn't been able to sell, guess there was a reason to why I couldn't sell it and looking at it now in its somewhat stripped form it does make me smile. I did get to take the CBR for a test and it felt pretty good, the blipper was a lot of fun to play around with, but again if you don't have these fancy bits then you can't really miss them. Though looking at the two bikes side by side in pictures I'd say we can all agree that even for a bike of that age the 675 still looks amazing, I've been sat in cafes in Wales enjoying some food as people stop and stare at the 675 even when there are tons of modern bikes sat around it.
Oh I should also add, when you plan to sell your bike wait a little bit. I sold a few of the fancy bits off mine like the arrow exhaust which has meant I've had to get a new one, which isn't a bad thing. I'll be sporting an akrapovic. Oops but I've had one on a previous 675 and it did sound great, so not really losing out.
I was no where near with my guess, your plans are even better.I have a 2014 Daytona with a 2022 765RS engine and its loads of fun. The only electronica I have is a Quickshifter and like you say i don’t think i miss what i never had,not that there is anything wrong with the extra safety that modern electronics can provide. Look forward to hearing more about your bike
You're on the right idea with what we're doing now, mine being a 2012 model, sump conversation to keep that undertail exhaust and a few other bits but fingers crossed I'll be going down the same route as yourself.
I'm part way along with a 765 conversion on my 2011 675R - mind you, that's been 'in progress' for the best part of 2 years now
Hoping mine is only a couple weeks. The engine going in has just been refreshed so I couldn't ask for more on that. Stopped short of having it tuned because that's a bit much for a road bike but it will be going on the dyno for a full workout. Planning to keep the gen 2 dash etc. It's now over to Tony to fit it all and get it to work. Then back to me to refit the fairings. I am trying to get done replacement stickers to swap the little 675 ones for 765 Sent from my Pixel 8a using Tapatalk
I'll let you know if they get back to me. It's just making sure it's a colour match with the gold stickers Sent from my Pixel 8a using Tapatalk
