Ok so it's my first track day on Tuesday so a little nervous about tracking my bike.
I'll be riding there and back so won't be taking indicators or mirrors off.
What do I need to bring/do to my bike?
Do I need to tape up light? If so what with?
    Cheers in advance.

Honestly? If it's your first track day you don't really need to do much at all.

The two things I would suggest are:
    1. Fold your mirrors in so your attention remains on what's in front of you.
    2. Drop your tyre pressures to 32f/30r.

Either take a foot pump to reinflate before the ride home or just fill them up again at the the first petrol station.

Take it easy, ride within your limits and have fun.

    Where you going?

Cheers. Its at silverstone and theres a petrol station down the road so will reinflate there.
I'll just take my plate off it's only on with some plastic screws so dead easy on and off.
With regards to tape what should I use. Electrical tape? Don't want anything to sticky on the speedo to try and clean later.
    Ohh I'm riding on s20's so 32 30 psi

  10. Mine didn't feel good at all with less in the rear than front.

Why tape up your plate & speedo? I take my plate off (so you can't read it) incase i end up needing to dump the bike in a ditch 'on the way home' :D

Tape up your speedo and/or lights with blue masking tape...the kind that doesn't leave a residue....pull your headlight & tail-light fuses, otherwise you'll still end up with a mess.

Speedo is taped for safety reasons....no need to be looking at it at 140mph approaching a 60mph turn.

+1 to most of the above (except the "ditch" bit  ).

But also listen to the briefing carefully. Do NOT overtake on the inside line of others  , and don't focus so much on the track that you don't watch out for the marshal’s flags

Unlike D41 I personally like to have the speedo visible, as a reference for my corner speeds, but I can see his logic.

Doesn't pulling the light fuses stop the bike from switching on? Think I read that here somewhere  Do they have marking cones like they have on the Ron Haslam day?

No choice in the matter I'm afraid...no tapey, no passy tech. inspection.

675Boy is spot on with his SC pressures.....even warmer and I'd drop them even a lb or two more.

Take the mirrors off, use a couple of cable ties through the holes left to stop the screen flapping.

Tape the speedo. Tape the speedo, oh and tape the speedo. If you don't you'll keep looking at it when you should be concentrating on the track. This is also why the mirrors come off.

Lower the tyre pressures IF you are pushing the bike hard enough warrant it. Feel tyre when you get back in if it’s hot you can lower the pressure more. But sometimes lowering pressures will cause loss of confidence because of the bike moving about more than on the road.

Don’t take the light fuse out. The engine will not start. Better to take plugs off the headlight bulbs.

Take some food and drink. Eat and drink in small amounts between all sessions. This is V important btw.

Take cable ties, gaffer tape a screwdriver etc, basic stuff. Don’t be afraid to ask the guy next to you for help or a 'lend' of a tool. They're all mates you just haven't met yet.

Take the time to enjoy yourself, have a laugh, it's a blast!

    Good luck, Dave G.

  18. I've only been to bedford and snettetrton, but it's not mandatory there to do anything to your bike at all. Just turn the mirrors in if you want (might as well take them off when you arrive though). I don't tape up the speedo because I don't have time to be looking at it anyway. I was trying to have it visible on the gopro for later reference but it didn't show.

Things you *must* take (probably already mentioned most):
    both parts of license.
    food or money for food.
    water.
baffle + something to remove/attach it.
Tape if you like, but not many other people will bother.
pump&guage, although you can probably borrow one from someone or the tyre guy if he's there.

Print and prefill you signing on & indemnity forms if you can.

If it's anything like the ones i've done, it's alot less formal and intimidating that you might expect. Sign on, noise test, brief, then you just get on your bike and go when it's your turn. Simples.

I never bothered taping up my speedo as I've never been interested in looking at it. I couldn't care less how fast I'm going!

On my first day, I just done my tyre pressures and went out. As I've done more and more, you gradually start picking at different things and end up taking off the plate and folding mirrors, and then it turns into removing plate holder and mirrors, and then messing about with lap times and suspension every session, just start off with the basics and have a laugh.
