Arent they going to start the soaraway sizzling Sunday Sun?

  2. Makes you wonder what Rebekah Brooks has on the Murdochs to mean that they'd prefer to close a 168 year old newspaper than sacrifice her.

Probably...they're just deflecting the whole scandal aspect of the thing....smart business move on their part. Still, both The Sun and the NOTW always been horrendous newspapers....wouldn't ever dream of reading one. The US tabloids are even worse, IMO....one notable exception has been the National Enquirer....over the last few years it has started to break some pretty huge and very credible/important stories, while everyone else has sank even further down into the gutter.

Darren, if a newspaper in the USA hacked the phone of a murdered girl, how would the public react?

With outrage I would suspect....I hope you're not implying that I'm sympathetic towards the NOTW....all I mean is that from a business standpoint they are doing the right thing...this whole thing will be forgotten once the next big scandal comes along.....sad, but that's the way the fast-food generation is these days.

No not suggesting owt!!! - it didn't even cross my mind. I just wondered how the US public would react to amoeba like these.

Inspector Ed guesses that she knew all about it, which explains why she didn't deny it but said 'it's inconceivable that I knew' and she told Murdoch. So if Murdoch hung her out to dry, she'd then expose him, meaning that the Murdochs would have to go, and the BSkyB bid would be over.

What a truly bizarre coincidence. The bodies of Sean Hoare and David Kelly were both discovered on July 18.
