Morning all, just wondering if you guys might be able to help or am I being a numptie....

Went to start the bike last night to go to a friends but no love from the Daytona, would not start.

Basically turn the ignition on, clocks and exhaust value do their business etc, clutch in, hit the starter button and all I get is a loud click and the whole thing seems to reset itself ie: clocks and exhaust value to their business again etc

Initially I though water ingress, as it was pretty wet yesterday afternoon, messing with something but I then thought battery.... but I would've thought it would at least try to turn over if it was battery but all I get is this loud click and reset.....

    Any ideas?

  2. Mines done this on two occasions, first time the battery went flat, so would be worth sticking it on a trickle charger and get it juiced up or at least measure the voltage acroos it. Second time my reg/rec bit the dust, my dealer cahnged that for me.

+1 flat battery. The 675 will not try to turn over if the battery is weak. The ECU reads the battery voltage and if there isn't enough it will not send power to the starter.

Reason it resets is because as you hit the starter button all the (not much) power goes to the starter motor and there's not enough left for the ecu. Ecu shuts down which then shuts the bike down, power bounces back up again and the cycle starts again. It's a bit like someone turning the hot tap on downstairs when you're showering - not enough hot water for you and them.

Battery flat/knacked or possibly the RR. Charge the batt and check the voltage when running. Search for the voltages you need on another thread.

Cheers for the replies everyone, flat battery it was. Got a jumper pack on it and fired up first time, then spent the rest of the day hooning around making sure it was charged...... its a tough life!

    Thanks again, Mic
