hey @Jay311275 I have a similar issue... my Daytona starts just fine, but when I engage 1st and drive for a few meters and stop accelerating the RPMs go down and the bike shuts down... it starst again, but I must accelerate in order to it not to die on me. I finally found a place to feel safe and check on it and just died would't start.. I disconected the regulator and started again (that was the weirdest thing) the volts on the battery as it´s running is 14.20 - 14.35 ( I saw an earier post with a great troubleshoot diagram) that says "over 15 bad regulator" , so it's close to the limit ... what I need to test is the AC current were you able to fix it??
Only just started to look at it. I tested the RR and this is what I got. Testing the RED Power wire Forward Bias readings were: . 096 .098 .100 Reverse were all ok and as should be. Then Black Wire the Forward Biad readings were: .396 .398 .404 This doesn't seem consistent enough? Can anyone advise is my RR effed???
Grrrrr just took the RR to Jack Lillies, and they said they couldn't test it... Even though they bring out the multimeter. Apparently the recall replacement RR HARDLY EVER Fail...? I mentioned I had a Stator replaced last year (re-wound) and suggested I do a resistance to earth test on it? If there is a reading then that's a good sign as that shows some resistance? If it Zeros it's basically fucked? Is that right?
Hmmmm bollocks..... Seems like there is a break in the Stator coils as getting a 0 reading when doing the resistance test AND I think my RR is screwed as it's still giving me different readings when testing the Forward Bias....
Get the rr off Paul mate everything about this thread points towards it. What jack lilley told u about new rrs never going bang is absolute horse shit.
Any sparkys out there know if that means my Stator is a gonna? I did a resistance test on the 3 wires that come directly from the Stator and all 3 wires in all combinations went to 0.0?
That would indeed suggest your stator is gone if you've got no readings from it. Just replaced mine due to the CPS dying.
Yep seems like it's the STATOR, and I still think the R/R is knackered. Charged the battery up again, fired her up and tested the Stator as she was running... And got a big fat ZERO Volts... . R/R... Is still reading about 100 from the RED wire and about 400 from the BLACK. from my understanding its supposed to be about the same from both?
I've got a R/R for sale if you do need one, been on my bike for years before triumph started recalling them but is the updated one that they started putting on them when recalls started £55 with postage
I had a similar experience involving the stator and the regulator, turns out that the A/C wires coming out the stator and going into the regulator shorted on that end, as a result, the regulator blewup, the stator burned and i had to change the whole electric sistem (luckly I found am awesome deal on E-bay for a wire harnes ... the stator was rebuilt by my local mechanic. give that a try, maybe some wires got burned.
