    Hi all

Just thought I'd pop on and say hello as I'm hoping to get myself a nice little Daytona 675 in the next few weeks after having an absolute blast on a test ride at my local dealers last sunday. Unfortunately I can't afford the brand new one I went on but hoping I can pick up something pretty tidy in the the £5k region.

With that in mind I thought I'd ask if there was anything in particular I should be looking out for, common problems/issues/fixes etc. and also any real world differences between the 2008 and updated models?

    Many thanks in advance

    Mic

First of all welcome to the site! Whether you end up with a 675 or not we hope you'll find this a great community.

The differences between the 2008 and 2009 model are as follows (2009-current there's not been too many notable changes (unless I've forgotten or missed something)):

There hasn't really been too many other updates to list that's going to be noticeable however I'm sure if I've missed anything another member will correct me.

The main issues that tends to effect all 675's is the Exup valve on the exhaust getting stuck, but a very easy and cheap fix for this - so nothing too major and also the R&R (regulator and rectifier) has a habit of becoming a pain. Not to say any of these problems will relate to your potential 675, it's just the most common faults.

Either way, the 675 is a fantastic bike - very forgiving and agile around corners. Not to mention the great sound, speed and grin factor. Recommended. I hope this has helped a little bit! :p

Hiya welcome along, hope you enjoy the forum, the bikes are great and sound amazing. Like everything its down to budget.

Both models have had stunning reviews, the newer one has obviously had some (50+) styling changes and some updates:

Clicky here for a video of all the 2009 model updates!!!

Check out the For Sale section, we have 2 for sale at the moment:

A beautiful British Racing Green model, lots of mods and a real stunner at £3900 iirc from TonyB.

And a 2010 new model, Tornado Red example at £6695 from me :)

Have fun, shout if you need any help, were a friendly, if a little sarcastic bunch!!

Welcome newbie. Where you from as it don't say on tapatalk :-(
Good write up Craig. I think all I can add is because of these changes the 2009 bike handles and fuels a lot better than the earlier ones.

Cheers for the welcomes and hints on what to watch out for.

Been looking at your bike mate, unfortunately a little beyound my price range.
Hoping to go and look at a 2007 bike at the weekend that seems a bit of a bargain, but in a curve ball move I've been offered a 2008 KTM Superduke as a swap for a Car I'm selling.... so i've got a decision to make shortly I guess.

Looking forward to having a good look around the forum.

Ok potential newbie is now (well on Saturday morning at least) a fully fledged newbie! yay!

Picking up a 2007 Tornado(?) red with 2800 mls on the clock, completely mint, fsh beasty for a bargain price that I just couldn't ignore.

I'll start a members thread when I get the bike back home but a couple of questions first.

    1) what tyres do people tend to replace the originals with? yes the tyres on this are the original and the guy has never pushed it hard so they're flattened off so probably best to replace.

    2) Is the Datatool S4 alarm a Cat 1 job? trying to sort insurance and some companies don't seem to list it.

Cheers in advance and looking forward to joining the gang.

  15. pretty sure the alarm is a cat 1 but i think youl need proof of fitment
tyres are an arguable area but personally i like the michelin pilot power 2cts and some others on here do too
but there are lots of options that will depend on your type of riding
ps dont forget the piccies :D

    Congratulations!

The tyres are really down to personal preference. I'm not a fan of the super corsa's so changed them for a more all-weather road friendly Pilot Road 3's. I haven't regretted it since.

The Datatool S4 is a Cat 1 job, you'll find it as "Datatool S4 Red" in the insurance companie options. Providing it's the triumph one that has been fitted.

Look forward to seeing pic's of the beast! :D
