I really fancy getting a little camera to stick on the bike but there are a lot to choose from. At the moment, I'm looking at the contour because it's self contained and I don't need any cables or anything. However, I have seen another one I want but I can't find it anywhere at the moment. It's similar but it's orange and it has a tiny lcd screen on the side so you can line up your shots. Anybody know what I'm talking about? Thanks
lol my bf just brought a camera off ebay, was £60, got a mic, records at 3mgp, comes with a head strap and other bits an pices to attach to stuff, he only got it this week so not had a chance to try it out yet. its smaller that a tea spoon lol!
I just recently bought a GoPro camera - definitely worth checking out IMO http://www.goprocamera.com/
We got a Dogcam - tidy little piece of kit for trackdays and great fun even for just a group ride out - although it does tend to make people behave strangely in traffic!!! http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk
Hello mate, this camera (the orange one)was on the gadget show last night and although the little lcd screen was a brilliant feature, the picture quality was the worst of the bunch on test. this one that D41 has got, i think is the one that came out best in the tests... picture quality was absolutely brilliant, slightly bulkier fitments etc though..... comes with a removable waterproof housing too. more expensive.... just depends what your requirements are i suppose. Might be worth checking out the gadget show website they will probably have a more in depth review.
Also been looking at these. Thinking of going for the ContourHD (1080). There's a couple of good vids on youtube & something i read elsewhere - basically, rider wearing camera gets knocked down, car driver proclaims biker's fault when goes to court (in america), but the vid clearly shows that the driver was at fault. Case won. Thinking of joining them & recording the commute, just in case. Different cameras each have their pros/cons, but i noticed that the Gadget show (nice link, thanks), were using the ContourHD on their snow challenge, btw. Alternatives are the GoPro (but bulky? - sure i'm going to knock it off), or a bullet cam with remote recorder (but wires & more expensive). Can we have reviews from MW & D41? Thanks in advance!
The standard def GoPro is under $140 -a very good buy for the money. http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&productid=4 ...Oh, & like Iron Urchin says - great for those all-important underwater rides!!
hehe you're just jealous D41 cos your D675 is the cheap non-amphibious US version we need propellors and rudders on ours. nah, the point is that it will be more versatile, more of a multi-purpose camera for all you multi-sport types. How do these things cope ok with wet weather?
No - seriously, you can go diving with them, they're rated up to 60 meters!! Don't have a 675... :whaa:
Darren's D675 is a special edition Orange edition, its confusingly labelled 'D650' and even more surprising has one spare cylinder
No it bloody well isn't!! Mine is the uber-rare D650 Valmoto Replica...probably the only D650 out there that sports the original factory Valmoto bodywork, & not a "SprayBay" knock-off either - it's only by the grace of God that I manage to "slum it" with you 675 riff-raff!!
On the issue of a camera fitted to a road bike, be warned Mr plod will be more inclined to pull you if you use it on the road as he will be of the notion that you are filming illegal antics, I just hope you have not been if he does tug you!
if you want a cheap camera yo can try to use md80 chinese cam. i have buyied one of these in dealextreme for 19$ and the quality is good for this price....

Found the vids on youtube that demonstrated the value of a helmet cam for "those" moments: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0eootaHR0Q http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GH8D2EqDZs Then I started thinking of some of the crazy stuff you see people doing when commuting (cars, bikes & even cyclists).
