What?? I actually had to google Leicester.....no way is that in the North!! There's actually a geographical line that runs down England that separates the North & South....can't think of the name of it....kinda runs from roughly Tyneside down the country on a diagonal towards the west. It's not just geographical, it also forms a good indicator of social/economic patterns in England, which is why even Brum can be considered 'Northern', yet somewhere like Peterborough strictly speaking can not be, even though it's at a higher latitude.
Good Greif I live in leicester and was born in Manchester and come on they are both middle of England, i class the Lakes as up north and as for you  Darren tut shame on you. Leicester has its own Airport you know (EMA).
The NE diagonal runs SW through the Wirral peninsula. Viking DNA has been traced in large samples of the English population living north of this diagonal line. Not surprising really since the Vikings landed in their thousands at the Battle of Brunanburh in 937AD (what is now known as Bromborough, I grew up near there as a kid so familiar with the local history). Welcome in Johnny and congrats on your new bike
