Ha ha! Pretty much! Cant wait to get out and practice tomorrow. Took me ages to get used to the CBT bike after going on test rides on the Mito this week, and now I've gota get used to the Mito again from an afternoon on that bike! The Mito isnt very forgiving either!

It's like that to calm you down a little, and make you appreciate the better days!

  6. Hi Miss E I am what they call a 'newbie' too. I love the sound of enthusiasm you have for bikes it reminds me of me a few years back. 125 is the place to start I tell you the 675 is so nimble and light just with a hell of a lot more welly but the skills you learn on a 125 are second to none I wish I had gone down that road when I was a lot younger. Good luck, and when you are out on the bike always wear all your gear no matter how hot it gets :D

Sound advise....makes my eyes water when i see the little chavs on there scooters with shorts and a T-shirt on. Whats with bending you legs back and putting your feet on the pillion pegs :?: cant iamagine they go any faster. I read somewhere that tarmac at 30mph will eat through flesh at 1" per second.

Thanks Caroline, that is good advice. I always wear my gear even for short journeys because thats when you may least expect something to happen!

Yea I'm hoping to gain lots of experience on the 125 and put that to good use when i do my Direct Access. I'd barely even started a bike up, let alone ride one myself before this so I definitly wanted to start small! The closest I'd got was riding on the back of my boyfriends bikes which made me realise how much I wanted to feel the power of the bike engine for myself!

Cant wait to get out and practice, but being a Newbie Squid I'm being extra careful to go out in only the safest of conditions for a while! Hence not in this rain! Doh! Would love to do track days one day like yourself aswell. All the fun without the idiot 'blinkered' car drivers to worry about!!

Had a really good ride this evening with old Gregor ere! Until he LEFT MEEEEE!! AAHHH!! lol. His gear lever came off under his foot so he had to ride the Tona home in third gear as he couldn't change up or down!
I turned a corner, then 200yds up the road realised he wasnt behind me! I sh*t myself thinking something had happened to him at the last junction! So I got thrown in at the deep end riding out on my own this evening - in the dark too! Had to find a suitable place to pull over then go back to look for him. He hadnt seen me turn off as he was looking to see what had happened to his lever and completely lost me!
He's secured it back on now- must have just come loose. But I'll leave the pi*s taking up to you guys! (Please do take the opportunity- you have my permission!) I'm just glad he was ok! lol.

Felt loads more confident tonight - clutch and throttle control etc is becoming more automatic so makes the ride more enjoyable. Not bad for the squids second ride out.

Well done!!.....As has already been mentioned...All The Gear, All The Time.....another quick tip...be extra super-duper really really REALLY careful if you find yourself in a carpark...possibly the worst place ever for having cars, people, etc. jumping out in front of you....GRR!

PS....the same applies to petrol station forecourts, too!

Cheers D41, thats useful to know thanks!
Before we went out on the road during the CBT the instructor went over all the hazards to look out for, like car doors opening, people pulling out in front of you etc, and no joke....every thing he mentioned happened within ten mins of being out on the road! One d*ck head was coming up the road in opposite direction, turned his headlights off and pulled over to the opposite side of the road directly in front of the instructor! Then had the cheek to wave a 'rude hand fisted signal 'at him like it was the instructors fault! We all had to laugh at his stupidity and the irony of that happening withing the first ten mins, but my god it could've been dodgy. Why turn ya lights off then pull over in the path of oncoming traffic???!!!!!

Ooooh.....nearly forgot! If you're riding on a multi-lane road behind another rider (preferably one who has not snapped-off his gear shifter with his big feet) or with a group of riders, - watch out when passing slower vehicles....oftentimes the driver will see the first rider in their side-mirrors, but not the second rider...and then change into your lane right after the first rider has passed them....second rider in line always seems to be the riskiest spot for some reason...

  16. Naughty boy ;) anything goes under the leathers I say. Has been known to be a bikni if beach is the destination

  17. Well done honey now the fun starts. Done get go faster than your brain can take. Stick to what you have learnt and dont get dragged into trying to keep up with anyone. Be your own boss.

Never to soon to do a track day it brought my road riding on in a big way once I started doing trackdays.

    How exciting :D

Stop. . . . DON'T TOUCH IT!!! hehe, mmm nice thought, thanks x

  19. Congratulations Miss. Eisenhorn! And welcome to this terrific forum.

Are you planning on taking your DAS test this year, holding off until next year, or are you satisfied with the 125 riding?

Regarding your bike, I have to say i'm extremely jealous that you've got that bike. I'm a massive fan of the Cagiva Mito and wanted one when I was younger, unfortunately, they were a little too expensive bike and insurance wise for a 17 year old.

    Happy riding!
