No they are not, overflowing US prisons prove that as there isnt another country on the plantet that locks up more of its people than the US. (over 2 million was the last count)
Ironically, the land of the freedom and liberty locks a disproportionately amount of blacks and Hispanics up behind bars.
There are more black Americans in jail than in college but on the plus side, their life expectancy will increase in prison!

agree on the second point though as some folks need putting to sleep :)

Over-flowing prison populations does not prove that longer sentences do not work, it merely shows that the US prison system is not up to it's task...nothing more.

"there isnt another country on the plantet that locks up more of its people than the US. (over 2 million was the last count)"
...so we're either 'tough on crime' or have a higher crime-rate...or a combination of the two?? - it's a different country, it's a different society altogether...comparisons with the various European justice systems are entirely pointless and serve no purpose whatsoever.

"Ironically, the land of the freedom and liberty locks a disproportionately amount of blacks and Hispanics up behind bars."
....are a disproportionately large amount of Blacks & Hispanics committing crimes worthy of a jail sentence?? - the answer is "Yes!"

"the land of the freedom and liberty"
...It's the "Land of the free, and the home of the brave", FYI....do try and keep up!

    Have a wonderful day! :D

Well he's out now. I read on the BBC (so it must be true!!) that residents in the NYC apartment block where his wife rented an apartment objected to him living there... I guess they thought that as a financier he might mis-sell them some life insurance

Links to drug dealers and money launderers, huge sums deposited in her account, lies on the asylum form, sounds like a perfect witness.

Indeed....not quite the story we were originally given is it??.....I still dispute any theories that this was some kind of "set-up" though...at least at any kind of governmental level.
