From England to Sweden for a rally. 1210 miles to get there. Not surprisingly, I won "longest distance foreigner" for my troubles. So I took a couple of days either side of the rally to complete a 2420 mile round trip.
Well that's nice...but it's not quite filtering in leathers on a rain/snowy/hot (UK update we've discovered the sun) day on the M25 on a Friday afternoon with Audi drivers all around.
Like I've written in the past dude, I can start off and it's 80F+, ride up to the snowline (where it's fecking cold F) and then head back down....I see more weather extremes than you might imagine.
I've done the other way around a few times (Sweden to UK) over the years and the longest hit was Southern Sweden to Anglesey. I was then in the UK for 2 months working in Reigate and Chichester with weekends spent in Cardiff
I did from Brum to Dover over to France, down towards Dijon, round Lyon, across down towards Turin then off to Bologna for the Ducati factory. Came back via the South of France. All on my old Sprint RS 955i plus a few other bikes (road test for Fast Bikes magazine).
July/August. They should be opened June/September - maybe even longer, but with this altitude there is no guarantee. I had to get out of Switzerland beginning of July as it was 10-15C on the bottom (and raining) and -5C and snowing on the top of the passes.
Last year did 3500 miles, 8 countries in 8 days round Europe on my 2011 D675 Currently on hols now with my 2013 D675r On day 14 today and done 3600 miles, got about another 500 to go before being at home. So bike will be over 4k and only bought it new 6 weeks ago
Last year did France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, back into France again. All that and it was just under 3k. With Mick and some others. Great trip loved it.
