Hi everyone, I need some help. I've got a street triple R. Haven't been on it for few weeks but was excited to go for a ride today. Got it out of the garage all kitted up...turned it on waited for the normal noise to finish then pressed the switch to receive a clunk noise. I think it's the battery again?!? It's happened four times now & I wanted to know if this was normal. Its been in the garage & they have told me there is nothing wring.
I'm new to riding as you can probably tell by my excellent terminology but as I've just paid £6k for this bike & I'm disheartened:-( & really reeeeally wanted to go for a ride:)
Any help would be much appreciated

  13. Does it have an alarm? The alarm could have drained the battery over the course of a few weeks.
What else did the garage tell you?

Does it have an alarm on it TW??....it doesn't take but three or four days left untouched with the alarm activated to drain the battery below it's starting threshold. Do the lights come on when you turn the ignition, and how do they look??

I suggest that you invest in an "Optimate" or similar 'wiggles.

Most modern bikes have fairly small capacity batteries (to keep the size & weight down) & suffer from this. The constant discharging also causes sulphation of the battery,, reducing it's life.
I always have an Optimate connected to my bike when not in use, for exactly the reason you stated.
IMHO all modern bikes should be supplied with one by the dealer, it's that necessary.!

Hi guys, thank you for all your feed back. I started it up an hour ago & it started so must be battery or like you said something draining it. The garage found nothing wrong with it but I may give them a ring on Monday. Looking forward to going out on it tomorrow!!:)
