I haven't had the chance to ride her with these brakes yet but would be comfortable saying they are better than the OEM 2 piece nissin callipers for one reason. "Caliper drag". Both my Daytona's had severe calliper drag with the nissins. I tried everything, rebuilding them, new rotors, new pads etc. It must be a nissin thing. The beauty of the R6 / R1 Calipers is that they have zero drag and I'm betting they stop every bit as good as the OEM nissins based on what I've seen stock R1's / R6's do on a race track. I will report back though after I spend a day on track with the new setup.
Zupe, Required Gear to do the conversion: 2 x R6 Callipers (From 2006+ Yamaha R6 or earlier R1) 4 x R6 Calliper Bolts (don't try and use the standard Nissin Calliper Bolts) 1 x Set of R6 Braided Brake Lines (Standard 675 lines wont fit due to Banjo bolt location on the Callipers) 2 x Pairs R6 Brake Pads 1 x Double Banjo Bolt for your M/C 10 x 1.25mm for Nissin Master Cylinder or 10 x 1.00mm If you have a Brembo RCS M/C 7 x Copper or alloy crush washers 4 x 2.5mm Alloy Spacers (Can be sourced from the guy at captivespacers.com) Make sure that the spacers he sends only have a locator on one side of the spacer. When you have all the required gear all you have to do is remove the OEM Dowell Pins from the R6 Callipers to allow for the 2.5mm spacers to slot in the simply bolt them onto the bike and plumb up the brake lines. Easy as pie.
