Hi, welcome along. I am sure you will love the bike. I rode one in the summer when my bike was being serviced and it was Ace! Would love it if you could recommend some good roads around Winchester, I am in Hungerford but my mate has just moved to Andover so our riding is out that way now.
Hey dude, The A3057 between Andover & Romsey can be quite fun if you catch the traffic right. A route I quite like to take from Winchester is: 1) A272 Winchester to A3 roundabout at Petersfield. 2) Turn round at the roundabout and head back down the A272 to the junction with the A32. Stop at Loomies here for a smashing burger. 3) Head north on the A32 until the A31. 4) Turn right on the A31 and leave at the first exit. 5) Enjoy the A339 until it gets to Basingstoke. Then for you: 6) Take the B3400 back to Andover. From you it would look like this: Google Maps Link Fun way to wile away a couple of hours.
Welcome mate. I run a little website where I collect good biking roads. I know the A272 east of Petersfield pretty well but never been around the other side much. Might have to try out your route and add it to the site!
Thanks TimMcC, I have done some of that route actually I think, if it's the same route I think it is then the bit out of Andover (past the golf course etc) can get really bumpy, I had a bit of a rough time of it before. It's well documented that I need to get my suspension softened soon! Anyway, thanks and hope it goes well.
Dude, it was awesome! About 12C, and beautifully sunny. Rode her from the dealer in Washington to Brighton and back. Then took the A272 to Loomies, the A339 to Basingstoke, and a random B road back to the A272 back to Winchester. 150 miles done, can't wait to get the other 850 out of the way. Kinda frustrating when you max out at 60mph 'cause you're running her in! Couple of piccies: Brand new at the dealer Lunch break at Loomies
Nice and welcome.....only just seen your thread! Keep her upright and stay safe. As for breaking her up to 60mph max........anyone else on here take it through the rev range a bit? I didn't break my Daytona in as I bought it 6 months old but I had an STR from new and I run it in this way: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm Not sure if it's the right way but it was much more fun and I had no issues over the whole 12,500 miles I had it for.
I like this route too Though I love the B3349 as well, so I usually take the A339 all the way up till I hit the A33, make my way across to the B3349, then back down South to the Golden Pot pub (Froyle Road), followed by a bit of C-roading through Froyle / Lower Froyle back to Surrey
Thats a super "Daytona Grin" you got there pal Glad the gods gave you an awesome day to become aquainted. Yes regarding the running in thing the general opinion is dont thrash the tits off it and dont let the engine labour just work the gears and throttle as normal without going crazy and those 1000 miles will fly by! I don't need to say it really but ENJOY!!!
Hey dude, you picked up your 675r at the at the same time i did, I love the thing, sexy slim and well wow lol Enjoy the bike as I am and hopefully I'll catch up with you and a few others at a meet Kris
