Welcome along. Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but, Hyperpro do a lowering kit for the Daytona if you still want to go down that road.
welcome, enjoy the 675 i love mine id hate to think your insurance is gonna be tho, oh and dont buy cheap kits from china, i got one for my old cbr and the fit was really poor
Hiya, spooky how anyone even near bucks is jumping out the woodwork hehe. Good to have you in board anyway, go the girls
PMSL! Did I mention I've just moved to Bucks....rofl ...seriously I haven't really don't worry. Will be moving to Essex in a few months though.
Hi and welcome aboard Hope you enjoy the forum! The height/lowering issue is an individual choice - me for example I am just over 5 seven and a half with a 30'' inside leg (which is really what counts) and could only get the tips of my toes on the floor so I opted to have a lowering kit as well as the forks dropped through the yokes to maintain geometery and a shortened side stand - If you lower the bike the stand is too tall and holds it in a too upright position and makes it liable to fall over, so dropping the ride height by an inch or so then adding a lower gel seat on top The best hundred and summat quid iv spent getting these alterations done to it TBH. It now fits me like a tailor made suit rather than an off the peg jobbie. And removed any hesitations or worries I had regarding resting on my toes or possibly dropping it Can't see that if you buy from a dealer you dont throw the alterations/fitting in as part of the sale even if you have to splash out the £80 or so for the lowering link. No doubt the bike and first time insurance are costing you a fair amount so make it fit you for confidence and safety - and to save you a few quid if the worse did happen - IMHO this and decent crash protection if not already fitted is far more important than a fancy spray job which can be a work in progress, it would be a waste of cash and wouldnt look too good if it had gravel rash on it.
Min - That has to be the smartest introduction I've ever heard kudos to you young man! Some well made points there and hopefully more people will take notice as a result I couldn't agree with you more.
Charming! I'm under 5'6" and havent lowered it. I'm with Lucky - learn to slide your bum off before you stop Having said that, like Min I lowered my previous "first big" bike (front and rear, of course) and found that really helped, though it did mean less ground clearance when I started tracking it. If you're not planning on tracking it just yet, then maybe get it lowered just to get used to the bike first then raise it again once you're more confident? (Though you may have to buy a new side stand - as the 675 is pretty vertical already when on the side stand, you may have to shorten the side stand if lowering the bike. ) I'm with Min on the crash protection. For us shorties, the problem seems to be with stopping the bike, especially if there's a camber to the road. Having crash protection will help mitigate the effects of those low/zero speed drops. Also, learn to be very aware of where you stop. If you're near a curb, use that for your foot. If you're on a horizontal slope, stop with your bike angled uphill. Etc. Let us know how you get on! Jo Ps Welcome
Glad you got there before me mate!! Anyway, welcome to the forum Poppy, hope you have fun on here and get along to a few ride outs when your biked up. You'll get used to all the banter, just remember to give as hard as you get!!
