I will bet you one English pound it's the airflap squeaking not the exup.

First (and most important & BEST upgrade bar none) are your free 675.cc forum stickers dude. Forum stickers linky

:D Nice start.! Post a picture of it up, when you're done please mate.

The air flap Stu675 mentioned is behind the mesh grill in the nose of the bike. It seemed to me that your squeak was eminating from the bottom of the bike (EXUP valve location), but it was rather noisy at Oulton. ;)

    :p 50/50 split D41 ??

Ah right. No, it is deffo coming from the exup valve area. Got it in my parents garage atm so can hear it clearly! Just out of interest, what does the exup valve do?

  8. Reduces the noise at low revs/ speed to meet ec regulations ;)

Deegee, or one of our other resident professionals will advise you better, but it is a valve that increases back pressure in the exhaust at low engine speeds, to increase efficiency. I tried to explain that to you at Oulton, but like I said it was pretty noisy.

We also discussed extra crash protection, if you want a reminder of what I mentioned about that have a read about Hadies 15mph lowside & note what was & wasn't damaged.!

Wiki this one... It does more then reduce noise but provides better power performance at low rpm. Ideal for city driving if you don't want to scream everywhere. I've left mine on as I do a mix of riding. Some say they don't notice the difference without it.

  11. Ahh the memories. Just re-read that thread. Unbelievable help from the forum.

I definitely noticed the difference at low RPM without the exup - engine really doesn't like it and you have to change down more than if the exup is still there. A particular PITA to ride sub-25mph (e.g. filtering)!

Lucky I didn't go wild

  15. Welcome along, Yes Akra is a good shout! the two brands that I think look and sound the best are the Akra and the Arrow, you do need it re-mapped really.

I have the Triumph Pazzo levers, they are lovely, really adjustable and actually the shape of them is really comfortable.

I haven't done gearing, all I would say is that on my ZX6 (not sure if the Triumph is the same) I had a front sprocket that had a rubber damper in it; when I replaced it for aftermarket I no longer had this and found noticeably more vibration from it; If the Triumph has this type of front sprocket then worth thinking about.

  18. no the SAI (secondary air intake) is different to the EXUP, where the exup controls the back pressure into the engine, the SAI allows a second intake of air which in turn mixes with any unbunt fuel and is what causes the 'popping' noise on deceleration when this air/fuel mix finds the heat of the exhaust...

Well I think I'll leave the exup in and fit the Akra! What advantage does de-catting give when combined with can? Does it make it louder and give more power?
