I'm ashamed to admit that my taste for riding is to enjoy brief & intense experiences. Anything longer than 20-30 mins' & I'm either loving it but coming apart at the seems, or bored to the point that it's starting to become more an endurance than enjoyment.
Even when I have commuted by motorbike, it's always been <30 miles.
Consequently I could count on one hand the times I've hooned round the Moors, even though my sister has a homestead in Farndale & her hubby is into & has motorbikes.
I'm pretty certain SW73 has a much more enlightened approach, as I actually bumped into him at the Triumph dealer in York ( our local dealer, equally "not local" to each of us).
Iirc he had ridden all the way down to there on his D675, with Jen on pillion.!! upload_2024-9-29_20-24-8.gif

Equally tellingly, I think I'd hauled my bike up to there in a trailer, & had even broken the trip up with lunch on the way..:oopsoops:

@StMarks I remember the day well. I'd ridden down for a valve service, and you'd come for some gaskets. In fairness, I've ridden the thing from Newcastle to the Nurburgring in a day....2014. That may be beyond me now and the D675 hasn't been started in a year now. Off road and uninsured. The STR675 lives at work under a cover and hasn't moved in 10 weeks. Shame on me. I have however bought a Vstrom thou for shitpence and heading to Morocco through Spain on it in November. Now riding all year round on the CRF 250 Rally to commute so still have some kudos . How about we all trailer our Daytona's to a meet up next year? I'll speak with @cpszx and maybe organise a group discount with Enterprise Rent a van? . I genuinely don't think it matters how much you ride, how you ride or where you go. So long as it's fun and you have a bike. Love this thread
