Please post it, because I think you're on the right track, and as I wrote, my former boss was terrible for it on the job, and the absolute opposite off it....he also was kinda respectful if someone fought back - he was "old-school" (whatever that means?)...but he would push & push to the limit...we nearly got into fistfights a few times, that's how bad he was.

I started a new job very close to where my now husband was working at the time. I negotiated an earlier start time so we could commute together as Bristol is a bitch at rush hour. New boss agreed to this. The current staff however were mightily pissed off that I got to start and hour earlier and leave an hour earlier. Tough shit I thought there problem not mine. Due to the nature of what I did back then which was accounts I was of a more senior position than the rest of the office. I noticed after a while one person in particular would be a bit bitchy and unhelpful towards me. Being a newbie trying to fit it I let it slide for a while. One morning this girl is the second one in after me so I ask her 'what's your problem with me' she says 'no problem' so I say 'why are you being such an unhelpful bitch all the time, and enough is enough and I am not putting up with her crap anymore' .......she walk off. Next person in was a nice chap who asks me 'if I knew why Nikki was crying in the toilet' I said yes I did I called her out on acting like such a bitch. She never fucked with me again. Lol.

why are workplaces so full of oddballs?

There’s lad on my bank of desks at work who’s an engineer (I’m in a legal support type role so completely separated from his line of work apart from the fact that we sit together) and he literally walks past me every single morning without saying hello/good morning (or partaking in any other pleasantries for that matter).

I’ve worked here over a year and I can count the amount of times he’s uttered even a word to me and that was a sort of grunt that I think was a thank you when I held a door open for him. Literally like an “urggh” sound and I think he only did that cos I started saying "you're welcome" every time I held the door open and he walked through without saying anything.

He must be at least 30 years old+.

There’s shy and there’s incapable of interacting with others. I really don’t get it. How do you end up like that? :?

I feel awkward/mean for not making more of an effort but tbh its gone on so long that I couldn’t give a shit anymore. Beyond “help” if you will.

Its weird, it still feels a bit bullyish though cos I know I’m capable of behaving better even if he isn’t. :?

I did almost spit my drink out over my keyboard one day when I heard Matt call our business partner as a 'keyboard monkey' on the phone. It's a bloody good job we are all mates.
