Hey, so I have a 2009 D675 that I bought a few months back and have slowly been fixing up because it was in pretty bad shape when I got it. Along with the actual maintenance I have done slight changes such as new grips, bar ends, rear brake light etc. (the previous ones were all in terrible shape). So here's my question: has anybody ever used (on any bike) one of those universal handlebar controls that you can find on ebay and amazon? https://www.amazon.com/Handlebar-Co...tion-Control/dp/B075F6PLRM?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_4 I'm asking because the plastics around the controls on my bike are just very faded and instead of a nice black color they're an ugly sun bleached grey. It's not the biggest deal but I just want to get everything on my bike looking perfect. Would it be wise buying one of those universal ones or would it be easier just taking apart my current ones and repainting the plastic? Thanks for any input.
Have you tried a heat gun? You can normally return faded black plastic back to black by just gently going over it with a heat gun. Lots of videos of people on YouTube doing it, I've done it on a few car bumpers.
Oh yeah that's a great idea! I've seen it done before on bumpers but it just never came into my mind for doing it on the controls.
