Yeah they do say that but seriously try 34f 36r I ran my STR at 42 for 2 days then went to 36 and never went back.
picked mine up today brand new, didn't feel right so checked them 18f 28r lol I run 36f 36r on everything have done for the last few years and I stick with 30f 30r on a trackday have never had a problem on both pressures, doing a euro trip I will up the rear by 2psi.
Any ideas why triumph recommend 42r on the street? Doesn't make sense, I just did it as that's what it said!
I run 36r 33f on my daytona feels good along with the suspension set up I tried standard pressures and it felt awful!
See post at top. They did it to pass the drive by noise tests for eu. Inflating the tyre reduces the rolling noise
I heard from a mate in the trade that its for safety; they say 36PSI and 42PSI with passenger etc but then realised nobody bothers to inflate the tyre correctly for pillions so safer to have it set slightly higher... It may be na-say I fully accept...

The street is my better half's but obviously I want it to be as safe/good as poss so went with manufacture recommendation.
I always ran 34f 36r in my street triple. Same on my daytona. Like said before, in this heat sometimes a bit lower. It depends on what type of riding I plan on doing.
