In a previous life I chopped trees down in Rutland/Cambridgeshire.

It's not a 'she's but a piece of machinery which will most probably end in divorce and/or injury

    Why so serious?

I shall have a sniff at it tomorrow. Can't honestly say I've noticed. Maybe I put the pic on the wrong way round....

    Aha!

    You're right!

But saying that it had a new mot this morning which involved new front brake pads so I fear they've put the wheel on upside down

Cheers for the heads up though, I was so excited I didn't notice!

  4. Me? Serious? Good lordy noooooo. Sorry, I should've put a few more smileys in my text to show that. Well, that is unless you do actually christen your gorgeous new purchase The Widowmaker. That would just be far to cringey. There's nothing wrong with naming a lump of metal and plastic that you (OK, that should read I) possibly show show more affection to than the spouse (sorry Mr Janey...) but please just not THAT.

    My one's called NotPuppy :p

    Hey Janey.... :)

It's nothing personal (Good job really) but as a lumberjack I'm ok.
    Point taken

    Suggestions?

Tbh if I knew it was going to be this anal I'd have bought a suzuki

  7. @Chris Holt LoL, you'll know where I'm coming from then when I say that the first thing that I think of when I hear the term "widowmaker" is overly serious NPTC instructors talking about the hazards of hangers and barber-chairs as if you're a total retard. :duh:

    I AM a total regard

    Explain that to me again.....

  9. Congratulations on the new purchase, is the complete wheel on the wrong way or just the tyre? The wheel has arrows cast into it so you can check. Shouldn't have had to have the wheel out to change pads.

  10. Nice bike, the 675 is no widowmaker fella, early R1's, TL1000's maybe but not the Tona. Black Beauty (haha, Remember that?) the bike is a scalpel compared to the RU mate even though I loved mine.

  11. Do you ever wish that you really hadn't said something in the first place? Because I kinda do right now...

Sooooo, changing the subject, what's name choice #2?

  12. Nice one on the new purchase mate! Better engine, brakes etc... much better than that 1st gen cat D! Enjoy

The front tyre may be OK, as I have a Michelin PP 2CT and it has tread grooves from the outside flowing to centre of the tyre.

I'm a bit late to the party, but this is almost a "this is your life" introduction from the OP.

I had an FZR1000B in the early 1990s, haven't ridden for almost 20years and then bought a 2009 D675.....because it was red and shiny... and I could.
    And loving it chief. :)

My gut feeling from the old FZR to D675 was the FZR had more torque, rev'd lower and I seem to remember sitting lower(checked: ~770mm compared to ~830mm).
D675 rev's higher and a glance at the speed shows you're quite often going faster than you think.
My muscle memory seems to have adapted really quickly to gear shifting as D675 seems very smooth.
FZR was ~236kg, but that was light compare to Honda CB900F2B at 242kg o_O

Only 5'11" and feel quite at home on the D675

Me thinks my D675 handle will be "Slow Loris"... for all the reasons it implies :)
In NZ we can do ACC advance motorcycle courses at a good price, which I'll do to get my mojo back after a long time out of the saddle.

D675 with Őhlins rear and reworked front suspension.. oh and gel seat....nice.:D

Nice bike - and the FZR too Nice to see a bike out on the red dirt roads, although most of my mates seem to be obsessed with doing that on Postie bikes (tiny Honda CT110’s) along these lines...

    Cheers Loris & FF....

I agree with you about sitting lower 'in' the FZR but the Daytona seems to have much the same position even though it's lighter it's narrower but I seem to fit it just as well.

I haven't tried any distance riding on it but never did more than 100 miles at a time on the FZR unless I could hang off it somewhat as I always used to liken it to sitting on a cold plank with a nail in it..... :D

Different but same-y (ish). Revs for fun but I don't think it's bad for the torqueses and yes, I agree with you about the gearchange, it's perfect for me like second nature :)

    Oh and yes...

    I bought a 2009 D675.....because it was black and shiny... and I could. :) :) :)

Loving it. I just wish it wasn't such crappy weather and the roads round here weren't so shitty
