So I had my seat shaved to as low as I could, keeping a decent amount still at the back of the seat so I can slide back when riding, but as a fully fledged member of the tiptoe gang I’ve had it shaved right down and before I couldn’t even touch the ground with both feet, barely on my tiptoes. I can now touch the floor with both, on the balls of my feet with the bike upright. For £90 not a bad mod that doesn’t effect anything on the bike. Still nice and plush, just a lot thinner for my teenie 28” legs & I’ve gained approx 1-1.5” from doing this
Good job, every bit helps with confidence on a new bike, the relative narrowness of the 675 compared with other sports bikes is a plus point as well, and most normal stops whilst out riding can be done on one leg anyway. Have you tried it in your riding boots yet though?
So the trainers I have on are actually platforms so they give me more height than my SIDI vertigo’s do, HOWEVER, I am looking for new boots because of the sidi squeak (IYKYK) but every boot that says it gives extra height is always on the heel, whereas I need it on the toes haha. Maybe I’ll have to fashion some stilts safe for riding lol.
I know how you fell as I only have a 29inch inside leg so balls of my feet all the time (although I do the seat shuffle so one foot is flat) Who did the seat mod?
Great to hear you managed solve the seat height problem, maybe the next step would be some 70’s style platform shoes. They might not be fashionable again yet but it’s only a matter of time and you’d be way ahead of the envious rest.
I’m always seat shuffling and it was Viking motorcycle seats near brands hatch, cost me £90 and done within an hour. Lovely bloke. He took 25mm off my seat, but left a fair bit at the back so I still had plenty of comfort on longer rides. He thinned the sides as much he could so it would still fit to the chassis, and it’s so much more manageable now.
One fashion step ahead of rest has got to be good. You are getting rid of your Sidi boots because of the squeaky noises, shame great protection those
