Welcome to my build and track time thread:

Today SD (steffydog) Racing was born, #55 because SS are my initials, simples.

I've decided to give a track bike a go, so I have a budget, yeah right I hear the racers scream! As i'd rather not throw my new RX down the road, and then not be able to get home, and I'm sure I can be quicker if I can remove the what if factor?

So I've decided to buy a road bike, and tweak where needed, depending on my performance and budget.

I'll need to sell my MX5, and buy a car, tow bar and a trailer etc, so it'll all be here, as it'll give people an idea of costs. I hope you enjoy my posts.

So today I bought a 2008 Daytona 675, a few more previous owners than I'd have liked, but after a good wash I'm sure it'll come up looking on, and it's a track bike right!? 15k miles Scorched Yellow. . . . .

Borrowed a van from work to get her home, and after a near 450 mile round trip, she's home, had a quick wash over, and removal of some stickers, she's now safely tucked away in the garage until I have time to make a start on her.

    Started like this:

Cheers wobbley, I've nowhere really to keep a built trailer, so I'm looking at one that folds down.

Thanks for the ramp load, worked a treat!

Going to sell the seat cowl to recoup the van cost?
I know it looks amazing, but it's going to be a track bike.

  12. Lovely colour that! 55 is a lovely tribute (to me anyway) to Darren Lindsey, an old team mate of Guy Martin's.

  13. Cool locked in on this thread. Also if you put your MX5 up on here, my bro is in the market for an older one.

Looks great, needs some nice levers to go on it... ;)

With regards to the trailer, have a look at motolug. I have one which stands up in the garage once the wheels come off it. Very easy to use and store and you can load a bike on it on your own too. Not cheap though.

Good price you got it for, too, around the same as I got part ex. Seems to be about market price for the older bikes these days.

Enjoy the build, many looking forward to seeing the on track pics!

  16. Always liked the scorched yellow Daytona's.

I have an erde single trailer, its only a few bolts and it spilts in half and stands on its end, I'll get a picture later of it tucked up in the garage.

Bits will be added to thread this week, as I've got to work today :(

Pics of Erde would be good, as I've only seen the Motolug broken down :
