Fwiw mine has had the Datatool on from new ('06) & it works fine. Frankly, it seems that these days any alarm/immobiliser is unlikely to deter any but the most casual thief. It may be better to simply buy one of those disck-lock alarms, perhaps something like this; http://www.motorcycle-road-and-race...fQBoEE7pR376VRmnmJcgltVB9Y2Z7DntWBhoC0zbw_wcB A decent chain is the best immobiliser IMO.
There are a whole load of xena disc locks from about £35ish up - top kit IMO, fec£in loud and I've had one for 8 yrs and it's still working as it should. Don't forget to get a ground anchor to go with a decent chain - chaining the bike to something immovable in your garage is better than just stopping the wheels turning - four blokes and some iron bars will have a bike lifted into the back of a van in a jiffy... The padlocks on the chains can also be alarmed too.
Dont even need the bars, me and two mates lifted my daytona into a van. Wasnt hard at all. And in fact, the wheels not moving would of mate it easier haha.
