Rear seat cowl on Daytona 675r 2015

Discussion in 'Accessories' started by CountCatula, Jan 14, 2018.

  1. Good evening all

I recently bought a used seat cowl in white for my D675r at a bargain! Decided to take bike for a spin this arvo and whilst doing a touch over the speed limit down a bypass I felt something lift at the back of me! I saw sailing off in my mirrors my seat cowl! Luckily it didn’t hit any other vehicle and I quickly turned round when I could, and went back. Luckily a driver had spotted it and picked it up so it did not get run over. It is slightly damaged on the edges but I can now fit it on and lock it and prize it up with my fingers whilst locked.

Sorry to be long winded, but my question is - is there a quick fix for this apart from glueing it down lol.

  2. Also best place to get touch up crystal white paint???

The locking pins for them aren’t the best. You need to extend the length of the recess towards the tip. Best way is with a grinder but a hacksaw will do the job just a bit slower. You will feel the catch engage fully once you have the recess long enough. Don’t know why Triumph can’t get it right!!!!

  4. Cheers, gutted as it was as new! I have a dremel would that work?

Yeah will do the same job. Just go a bit at a time till you feel it properly click into place. Problem is you can’t push the cowl down to hard or it will crack.

  6. Will be careful! Also need some touch up as on three of the edges it has taken paint off and tiny chunk! Do I get that from Triumph direct or will it be expensive?

Not too sure about best place to get paint from. I actually need some too. Had the paint rub off at the base of the tank when my legs have been gripping. Strong manly thighs and all that

  8. Haha, not had that problem... yet! Would have needed to grip on to tank but cowl went first! Hopefully someone will know the bat place to get some paint, don’t need bucket loads just a smidgeon! What colour are you after?

Same as you. Haven’t bothered to even look into getting some yet. Will get some motivation at some point to find some

Have you even asked your dealer if they will give you a free replacement because it’s a known design fault?

  11. Hi fella. I know a few people who have but they bought them new. I bought this for £50 used. Don’t think they will, but will ask as I need to try and find some touch up paint for it
