To all the new members - great choice of ride Been away for 3yrs on a couple of Aprilia Tuono’s (2019 & 2021 bikes) after being seduced by the raw power of a 1,000cc bike at Philip Island - done a few laps of Wales & a number of trackdays inc Anglesey & Portimao on them and they were amazing to ride hard & fast - but something was missing, a bit too “PlayStation-ey” & easy to get into naughty territory without trying or wanting to do so (not that a 675 is slacking there) - the all round fun, being able to work on the bike yourself including the ECU & the sound/handling/lightweight/slimness/reward to ride was just not in the same ball park - so I’ve sold up & am back on a 2011 675r - my third Daytona, second “r”. A 675r really is a “Goldilocks” bike imo - I rode mine to the Nürburgring, the TT, did the NC500, numerous trackdays & even a Euro on it - and can’t wait to be back on one in Portimao in June

Got a few more bits arriving/to be fitted - I’ll try and get a pic up as she’ll look either just before it goes off in NL truck or in the pit lane at Portimao the mission is to get it to the same spec as per my previous 675r. Agreed Janey - the looks/sound etc got me back on one, it’s been in the back of my mind for 6mths then suddenly happened in the last 4wks. Have fun on those lovely roads around Wantage
Welcome back, I keep thinking about making a move up to a 1000cc bike but since I'm a road rider the chances of using all that power are zero, and you're right the 675 is right bang in the zone for a fun lightweight bike and it still turns heads when you pull up places, even against the new breed middleweights and the heavyweights.
To put it into context - the Tuono won’t do 100mi on 10ltr of fuel whilst having fun. It also eats those tyres faster, and 200’s cost another £15-30 a rear… is it that much more fun? I never used the cruise control on it & the semi active suspension was a bit meh tbh. The engine was amazing & it sounded good, but more of a roar than a pop/burble & it didn’t have to be worked to make it fly properly. Also carried about another 30-35kgs over a stock Daytona. Saying that nil regrets in life - if I was getting a track bike & had a GP circuit close by, then I’d get an S1000rr as well - on the road/looks/sound/handling it’s hard to beat a 675r imo - maybe the new KTM RC990 that’s being teased will come close/exceed it, but then it’s a track bike with wings really, isn’t it…

I hope you’ve got a trackday at Silverstone booked for that lovely S1000rr - they just want to keep going & going… think I maxed out about 197mph at PI that was on a 2018 Sport model. Handled v.nicely too, just never liked it on the few right handlers (and new front screens aren’t cheap - if you hit the tyre wall after carrying too much speed into the southern loop . 100% room for one in my “money-no-object” garage, along with a V4 & a 2-stroke, plus another 2t off roader - but for now, my do-it-all really well & make me want to go back for more is my 675r
Thanks for all the welcome’s back - feels like I’ve never left Couple of pics of the bike - it’s not final as only collected her from a mate’s house last weekend - still got some gb racing crash bungs, engine casings & a rear swingarm slider to fit when they arrive by the end of the week & I’ve got some Oxford heated grips to go on after Portimao - but it’s had a few bits fitted today. It’s a 2011 675r - not in a standard colour scheme, but think I’ve seen a couple like this Castro’s scheme before? Doesn’t look like it’s a wrap/over the top of anything else… Bike has got the usual 675r goodies & some ovwith the following additions: Triumph Quickshifter - in GP shift Arrow exhaust Arrow rearsets R&G front axle sliders Sigma slilpper clutch Brembo RCS19 Oxford brake guard New SBS 841 RST pads MWR HF race air filter LED indicators New DID 520 VX3 gold chain & Renthal 15 & 16t f (15 installed) & 47 rear sprockets Gel seat It’s on a mix of Bridgestone BT-16 & 23’s for now, but got some metzeler TD slicks going on at Portimao & a set of Bridgestone S22’s going on when she comes home. Shakedown run to Aberystwyth & around north wales next Fri-Sat (the outlaws have their uses!) & then it’s drop off the following Saturday. To say I’m happy with it is an understatement!
Welcome back, totally agree with your sentiments and echo's my feelings after a brief spell on a 1000cc sports bike, albeit only road riding.
I can understand that as it's gorgeous! I've not seen that paint scheme before - is that factory original? It does look like the tank grips were put on by me, though

Great article - thanks for sharing that & mine looks like this on the main fairing - but any stickers on the tail section have been removed/less were installed originally - explains the anodised dip stick/oil filler cap, that were removed quickly! But no carbon swing arm covers/tank pad on this one. interestingly according to the service paperwork from Nov 2011, the first owner was a “Bloor” - but not the actual John Bloor
