Failed 101db static test at Bedford this week and have been right on the limit at Brands with an underseat Akra with baffle in. Was able to slam a bunch of tape in there to get it to pass, which made a mess but made it through. I don't need that kind of stress in my life anymore. What are people using for safely quiet exhausts? Pipewerx? It's full system pipe diameter, and I just want to swap the end can.
Stock exhausts are pretty cheap. I'll have to measure my current system diameter but it looks way bigger than the stock inlet pipe so I guess a custom link pipe needed if I go that route.
I was going to suggest an OEM silencer, fwiw I have one that I take with me most trackdays "just in case". I use an Arrow, and so far I have always passed (just). I renewed the packing in it when I first got it, and that did make a substantial difference for very little cost & not that much work iirc. I've seen the Std silencers going for next to nothing on the Bay of fleas, and there always seems to be a few being offered. Good luck, & let us know how you resolve it please Trogdor.
I might need one. Looks like it's 59mm piping all the way through to the header, so I'd have to take it somewhere to get a link pipe made. I should consider repacking the Akra I've got, and replacing the carbon end cap (has a hole due to heat damage). I can't find any details about it though, it looks more like an Arrow than any of the Daytona Akrapovics I've seen.
It does look different, doesn't it. However, from what you've found it sounds as though it's an Akra' full system rather than just the usual slip on silencer.? If so, perhaps that explains the difference.. Anyway it looks like the usual "tin can held together with pop rivits" format, so presumably taking a look at a re-pack may not be a bad place to start..?
I think I'd be right in saying that is the 'special' Akrapovic exhaust that was only made available to sponsored teams, such as Smiths Racing. Definitely different to the normal Akra system (which I have).

Still not sure if this is just the akra Ti full system exhaust or a special Smiths version as Colin says. The fact that I bought Smiths racing replica track fairings last year (not knowing any of the above) is one hell of a coincidence. Assume that's the same Smiths racing?
