Cheers Craig , I think triumph Birmingham are part of the pure group and are a franchise as the manager is also manager at Kawasaki next door When they are back in on Tuesday I'm going to pop in and see if I can resolve this situation in my favour I have had some good fun on the speed trip today as a consolation
Was about to say I recognise that carpark, my 2011 D came from Birmingham triumph when it was still pure, I thought it was owned by a different group now but could be wrong. I was let down by an inexperienced staff on the spanners but generally found them all to be a good bunch. Depending on where your based I've found staffs triumphs service & triumph showroom to be second to none. I've also heard stratstone triumph wolves may not be there for much longer, which will be a great shame.
Hi Lenny The thing is the lads at Birmingham are good lads , that why I have given them time to sort the problems out , but I'm running out of patience now Duno if it's still pure but Dorian the manager of triumph also manager of Kawasaki next door I have had a bike from. Staffs triumph too (Tico ) they are one of the best dealers but a bit to far to go for service as I pass the Birmingham triumph 2-3 times a week Wolvo - never used them
It was Dorian mate, he was sound but not their regular enough. When I actually did get through to him things seemed to progress. As I recall the only Prob I had was my quickshifter failed, it eledgedly took ages for triumph to authorise the warranty claim & the temp standard linkage they fitted dropped off & left me in 3rd gear 13mile from home. Then when they fitted the new shifter they lost my standard linkage & the only answer I got each time I called was it must be in 1 of the lads toolboxes. Mark was the salesmen I dealt with. Bottom line is exactly as others have said, take a copy of the current retail agreement covering your rights & ask them exactly what they intend to do to stop you reporting the situation to the relevant governing body (trading standards I presume)
Quick update , just had word from the factory they have fitted new sensors and wire Loom and it still no good so I've told them I'm rejecting. The bike and want a replacement , so we'll see how that goes
Good luck with the next stages Andy. Think you have done the right thing. I really think it's a piss take you have bought a new bike and only had a hand full of times being out on it.
I'd be asking for compo for loss of enjoyment as well. Nobody buys a bike for it to sit in their garage.
Andy my rejection of my 899 was finalised today with black horse and Ducati. They have 3 attempts to fix a problem. That doesn't apply if it's a serious safety issue like mine. The throttle stuck open twice! They should give you a replacement bike. I was shit out of luck as 899s brand new don't exist. If they don't replace the bike like for like they will return your deposit and any money paid minus fair use. They calculate fair use as one monthly payment for each 500 miles. Shocking I know! As Ed pointed out you will be eligible for a loss of enjoyment payment plus any other costs you have incurred due to the bike problems.
500 miles sounds not too bad (6000 annual) there's certainly plenty of evidence for them to support 250 miles per month (3000 annual) I guess it's even clearer cut with pcp when you sign up to a mileage limit.
There's three brand spankers (two white, one red) in dealer showrooms in my neck of the woods - based on the current foreign exchange rate retail price works out to be £10,995 (NZ$24,990). Defo not going to ride the demo bike because I know what will happen
So update , formally rejected bike and not triumph say there's nothing wrong with it and all Daytona's do this with an arrow can , triumphBirmingham won't collect bike but have advised me no to ride it ? ? To say I am pi55 of is an understatement so I'm struggling with the finance company who are Lukewarm about it , a dealer who won't help and the factory who say that despite its been there 3 times and the dealers 4 time there's no issue So do any of you who have a 675R with arrow can , dose you bike open and shut the exup over and over again stationary or on low revs when ridding or pulling away from a junction ?? Thanks
I think the difference is RR's bike is an old 2009, but Andy's is brand new model. I'm assuming Andy atually wants to go back to Triumph and be able to say he's asked 1000? Triumph owners and none of them have this problem. But even if they all did have this problem it's surely irrelevant. if it doesn't work, then it's broken. Triumph can't expect to be selling them as garage ornaments.
What a crock of shit, the arrow can is a genuine triumph supplied accessory so if it isn't compatible with the machine then they have a problem. I'm really disappointed that the brand I love are dealing with a customer in such a bad way. Unfortunately you have no choice but to place the matter in the hands of trading standards & except what they instruct.
Agreed , they are just trying to get out of it , disappointing to say the least , this is my 5 th triumph and probably my last as this kind of sales experience is unacceptable
