Hi my names Andy from staffs
just like to say hello again , some might remember me was quite active on the forum until , like most I moved onto other bikes

First joined the forum in 2008 when I bought a mk1 Daytona having got a deal on the bike two months before the facelift model came out
I loved the bike and did 16k miles on it in 2 years including 2 trips to France & Germany together with countless rides in the uk WITHOUT any mechanical issues lol
I then moved on to a tiger 800 for a while then a YZF R1 2013 model , sadly someone decided to take me out in July and the bike was a write off . Having got a decent settlement from insurance I decided to buy another Daytona this time a 675R I would like to say I'm enjoying it but the truth is I have only ridden the bike 3 times since August when I collected it from triumph Birmingham ,since then it's either been at the dealers or at the triumph factory with a fault that so far they can't seem to fix ,I have however had a new street 675 to ride around on for 5 weeks ( which I enjoyed more than I thought I would ) now I have a speed tripleR 94 anniversary model which it ok
I would however like to see what others think about what I should do next , having brought a new bike in August and it's still not working properly by end of October where do I stand ? What's my best move to get a result from triumph ?
Also the fault is to do with exup valve once bike has warmed up and past 5000 revs. ( valve open ) if you then slow or stop , say at a junction , the valve continually opens and shuts even on tick over and continues until you get over 5000 revs when it stops open
My question is has anyone had this issue with a new 675 ? And if so how was it resolved ? So far the factory has replaced the arrow exhaust , the gear pos censor & the ECU all to no avail
The bike is currently at triumph factory having a new wiring loom and additional censors replaced
    Cheers
    Andy

    Hi Andy welcome back.
Sorry to hear you've had problems. From what you describe I would say no question reject that bike get a full refund and a good deal on a different bike that you want even if it's another 675r. There's something obviously terminally wrong with that one bike but I'm sure another one would be fine.

  3. Call the finance company and tell them you are rejecting the bike under the sale of goods act as not fit for purpose.
They've had attempted repairs but just get it gone.
In going through the process with my 899 at the minute.

Yes I had thought about rejecting the bike as a last resort , wanted to give them a chance to fix it as the guys at triumph Birmingham seem genuinely trying to fix it but it takes the factory ages to look at it

  5. Remove valve buy getting a free full system. Job done lol

  6. Welcome back Andy and reject the bike as it will never sit right with you will it?

Many, many years ago I bought a new bike, it went back 3 times in the first month and on the third time I asked / received a full refund...

Sale of goods act isn't about anymore, I have a newspaper cutting I'll try and upload.

Welcome back in. Sorry to hear about your bike problems. I along with everyone else agree, just reject the bike. You're paying for something your not using. Tell the dealers you want it swapped and let them deal with the busted bike

Hi Andysjt, been a while mate.!
Good to hear you're still enjoying being on two wheels, shame about the hassles though. It's very strange, because frankly the new 675r seems to have reportedly been pretty reliable.
From a practical perspective, if you can reject it then it will leave you free to buy another bike next spring, and miss out on a whole year's depreciation.?

After the third return I told them I want my money back or a replacement bike together with the extras I had with original
The response was " let me tell you , from a legal position we have 6 attempts to fix each suspected fault and at the moment you are nowhere near that , but let's not go down that road , work with us and we will get it sorted for you" ........still waiting

They don't have 6 attempts, that's rubbish, in any case why 6? when it should take 1, none or why not call it 66 attempts, pants.

Go back. Put dictaphone on your mobile on or bring a friend as witness. Talk over get him to claim the 6 attempts thingy. Then ask him to provide proof of his claim as I believe the should have up to date trading standards in. Then if he can't present the article above and a print out of the legislation. Explain he has now one attempt to refund you. Or you will produce the evidence that he has been deliberately misleading you and you now have evidence to substantiate your own claims. Give him time limit by which to respond. I can't see why I the current economic climate businesses are abusing good will. I don't think as someone legal will explain - ignorance isn't a defence and it's aggregated in the circumstances as he's deliberately misleading. There isn't but there should be a double A3 sign with all consumer rights etc. Visable and sign posted so a customer can simply point to the article and vice versa. No grey áreas then.

Welcome back Andy! Good to see you return with another Daytona even if you have a battle with the dealer. Is it a Triumph dealership?

I hate that type of arrogance, is he a manager there? I would escalate that to the manager/owner of the dealer and contact Triumph customer services. If you need any contact numbers in Triumph pop me a message and I'll dig some out.

The legal point is one thing but if the bike isn't up to a standard they should refund or replace like for like.
