Hi lads, I have a 2017 675R and the OEM Damper is doing nothing.

I see a small screw on the side of the damper but I'm not sure what it's for and do not believe it's anything to do with adjustment of the damper.

It looks like removing the OEM damper is a big job as you have to dismantle the front of the bike so I'm considering just leaving it in position and upgrading to a 916 style damper across the bars.

Does anyone see any issue with just leaving the OEM damper in situ?

Fwiw I also changed my damper to a Hyperpro mounted "916 style". I removed my OEM one, and all associated brackets. I would have done so anyway (because I wouldn't want to drag any excess weight around) however in my case my original one developed a fault at a trackday, that prevented my steering from turning left properly. It hadn't been working properly anyway (I'd had a few head-stock-shakes that had "substantially raised my pulse rate") so that was that for my oem damper.

    Hth.

  3. Removing it is easy, just one allen screw in the bottom yoke and then unscrew it from the rod end bearing, no need to dismantle anything.
The small screw is to drain/refill the oil, may be worth trying that first before splashing out on a new fancy damper.
I refilled mine with 10w fork oil and it does increase the damping force, I know some people say the standard damper is a waste of time but I haven't had even a hint of a head shake never mind a tankslapper in 6 yrs so didn't see the point in spending a fortune on an aftermarket unit.
