Hi All, Have only put 100mls on getting her home, now packed her off to Cartenega ready to get to know her next week.
Happy days, have a good time.Think you will in the sun on a bike that’s very at home on the track. And welcome to this friendly forum
What better way to get to really know your new bike, than a few days in the sun blatting round a racetrack.? One small observation.: Removal of the indicators is only 1x little bolt & unplug 2x wires .
Thats a great track to get to know your bike on as well. Did it quite a few years ago now, but still have lots of memories of it.
Simply haven't had time, a few things I need to sort during the trip. I need to move the gear lever up slighty, had a quick look. Any tips to save me time doing this.
You should see two locking nuts on the connecting rod from the gear lever to the selector arm on the gearbox. Releasing those nuts and lengthening or shortening the rod by rotating the unlocked centre shaft is the first point of call. Hth
OK, I thought I saw a reason I couldn't do that with the sensor cable rubber tubing!!! It felt like I needed more than a fine lift of the lever. Tried taking the arm off the shaft but frame stops it. Do you know if the ball joint splits? It's a 2015 Thanks
If you want to move the arm on the splines you can pop the ball joints off, may get away with just the end connecting to the arm, I usually do both if removing the sprocket cover for example. Release the spring clip and then remove from the ball joint in the direction of the rod, then pull the joint off. There is only a small hole to re-insert the clip which can be tricky to find. The spring clip released ready to pull to the right to remove.
If you also want to adjust the rear brake (if you use it on track), you need to remove the clevis pin, slacken the locknut and rotate the clevis, unfortunately I think you have to remove the brake lever pivot bolt (which is threadlocked) to get clearance to remove the pin, unless there's an easier way i'm missing. Be aware if you do decide to remove the indicators, the screw attaching the front left indicator also secures the reg/rec mounting bracket inside the fairing, its hung on two tabs so probably won't go far, also i think the right front indicator has a nut inside the fairing iirc.
WOW Cartagena and the 675r made for a fantastic few days getting acquainted. The forks had a bit of a weep, bit of towel n cable tie thankfully stopped any disc issues. Adjusted the gear lever after 1st session felt a proper plumb cos didn't check operation and couldn't get into 2nd, not my best lap of the trip. Got just under the 2 minute mark, can hardly wait for her to get home sort the bouncy bits n stoppers and hit some more tracks. Have booked Brands 29th April but will need another hit before that. Anyone planning a euro day soon?
Well done for not letting the small issues stopping you having a great few days. Did the Ohlins fork seals and oil on mine last year, mine was only a very tiny weep, and cleared as soon as I rode the bike, but changed them anyway as I was replacing the 10yr old oil. May (or may not) find this useful as it was my first attempt at forks so don't claim to be an expert in any way. Ohlins fork oil and seal change | 675.cc • Triumph 675 Forum
Glad to hear you had a good time at Cartagena you lucky bugger. On the subject of European trackdays I will be taking my Daytona/765 to Aragon on 11/12/13 March and Alcarras 15/16/17 March. This is with a Dutch organization Racecrack, maybe they have some places available.
You might be touch&go whether you will meet the noise requirements for Brands, as i think they are stricter than most tracks for trackdays? I was told 101db when i tried to book many years ago, and my standard exhaust at the time could not get below 103db, as i went there in advance on an evening session just to get tested before booking. The pre 13 bikes seem much easier to meet the limit than the later ones. Hopefully some of the more regular riders who do Brands can provide more up to date info though, as it was a few years ago now.
I blew the gearbox on my zx9 at Brands last year!!! Not too concerned with the Austin can but I'll give it a noise check before I get there. The zx9 got me round the indy circuit in the low 60s can't wait to see if the D will get me under the minute pretty sure she will. The Gen 1 Tuono was a mare to get through noise testing. Had to throw the oem anchor back on her for the track. Nik, I've messaged Racecrack to see if they do transport from UK
As far as I know they only have two places here in Holland where you bring your bike and gear to get trucked down to Spain.I’m bringing my stuff to Wateringen for the transport. This less than 30 mins from the Hook of Holland ferry port!!
Well done, Cartegena isn’t my favourite track if I’m honest, but it’s a good ‘technique’ track, I did it on my R1 in Nov 2022, I think my best was a 1:49.99, but i struggled in a few places, namely the left hander before the last right hairpin Sent from my iPhone using 675.cc
