Hello everyone, hadn't intended to buy a new bike this side of Christmas but found a 2012 675r and had to have it.

Ill be looking for some info regarding some parts and a new service book as unfortunately mine will be coming with no service history. A gamble i know as its on 12000 miles but fingers crossed a winter strip down will reveal all.

    Cheers

    Dean

Welcome to our friendly little forum Dean, and congratulations on your new bike.
12,000 is quite low, so as long as it's not been terribly neglected (which seems unlikely for such a beloved bike) you shouldn't find too much to alarm you imho.

    Thank you,

Yea I didnt think 12000 was overly bad and it doesn't look to have been abused, the MOT check came back confirming the correct mileage etc so it all looks good.

Ill get some pictures up when I collect the bike

I think there is a major valve service at around that mileage.

Also check the header balance pipes as they crack really regularly (mine have just been rewelded again at 31k)

Thanks Dave, I'll double check the balance pipes thats not something I came across when looking up issues

I believe they are due to be checked. Its the big service going off the service sheet.

I normally service my bikes myself, keeping detailed pictures and receipts all numbered and noted on the service book. I'm tempted to have my first service on this bike at a garage I trust though just for peace of mind.

    Thanks again for the advice

Had mine for a couple of years now. Such a beautiful looking bike but I am biased! I'm sure you will love it. My wrists do suffer a bit though sometimes.

  10. Welcome to the forum, even though I have a 2013 R I still think the 2012 675R is possibly the best looking version of the Daytona ever.

12,000miles is the valve check service, I did my own valve check & adjustment at 20K and despite it being my first time I managed it successfully, if you do your own maintenance I would definitely have a go at the checking the gaps at least, there's quite a few things to remove and access is a bit tight but apart from that its relatively easy, there's obviously a bit more involved if you have to remove the cams and re-shim. Also while your in there you can do the plugs and air filter at the same time.
I know somebody's already mentioned Muddysump, but if you find his channel on YouTube he has some videos showing the valve check & adjustment plus all the other service jobs, I think they relate to the 800 triple in the tiger but its basically the same.
Definitely worth checking the rear suspension linkage bearings/bushes as well, and fresh coolant and brake fluid.
If you search online for 6000mile triumph scheduled maintenance check sheet you can just follow that for the 12K service, its the same one the dealers use so I just fill it in when I do my own services.

Congrats - great choice of bike

I’ve had my “r” for 3yrs now, had an ‘09 Daytona for 7yrs before that.

Get some pics up and we’ll give you some ideas for more upgrades.

Some dirty pictures, just stuck around 100 miles collecting it. What an absolute weapon. I can see why they have such a following now.

Next on the list is to have it stripped cleaned and a trickle charger.

As fun as it was to drive will only come out in the dry now.

It has been remapped with a de cat and arrow slip on. 119hp . Suspension has been tuned by JHS racing however for someone slightly heavier than myself. 20201113_144518.jpeg 20201113_144526.jpeg 20201113_144531.jpeg 20201113_145510.jpeg 20201113_145516.jpeg IMG-20201113-WA0011.jpeg

  17. Looks good and bet it sounds awesome with the Arrow and decat:bang:

Before you put it away if your going to do a fairing off clean take the hugger off as well, mine had some corrosion on the bare ally around the mounting bolts and it had already started to bubble the paint.
