Hey, Introduced myself before but thought I would start a thread so I can dump all my video's and photos as I go along, currently working my way through making the bike up to race spec although not sure when I'm going to race it just yet, will definitely be attending some track days if I don't race. Completed my ACU end of last year and have booked a test day with NGRRC club, combe on the 4th March so looking forward to that. How it looked when I purchased it, previous owner had it set up as a hill climb bike in the "road legal" class: So far I have; Replaced the 15T front sprocket with a 14T plus shortened the chain Gone to a 180 60 rear tyre on my dry wheels/tyres with some metzeler racetec's New oil/filter and air filter New plugs Replaced header studs and cut out the cat (video below) Hoping to load on a different map as have just sorted an mx bluetooth adaptor and TuneECU, was thinking of trying the Triumph full arrow system map as mine is kinda more similar to that than it is the stock map with the exhaust changes. Need to see what else is available too. Also need to sort the lock wire, rain light, a fairing, and decide if i'm keeping the wide bars or going to go back to clip on's... Hopefully see you all on track sometime
NG test day done, absolutely loved Combe! Not many sessions on track which I explain in the video but overall great to get out on the Daytona. Got some pics to put up next few days too. Here's the video: Donny track day with NoLimits next
Looks like you're making a good start there Dan, look forward to following your progress. Fwiw "if its not dry just use the wets, they will keep you upright " ... Sadly I would suggest that as being some rather optimistic advice you were given. Nevertheless I hope you prove me wrong, and that my experiences are down to my inferior riding skills & not the limitations of wets.
Thanks for the replies, just had a great time at Donnington this weekend so will hopefully get that footage together over the next few weeks. Ah ye sorry StMarks that might not have come over as intended, what I meant was, I had been told you can still use a full wet in damp but not full wet conditions, before I thought you only used a wet if it was pissing down and gathering loads of water on track, not sure if this is right or wrong but I did test this out yesterday briefly. When we got to Donny in the morning it was damp/patchy on track but not raining, I decided for the first couple sessions to run a wet front and dry rear, tbh it worked great, we had 2 red flags in the first session, one even on the second sighting lap from people sliding off... I had no slides from the front and felt fairly confident, guess it will wear the wet a lot faster than is ideal but gave me confidence so I could still get some pace up even with a damp track. (I fell off at my first 2 track days which were both damp a few years back) so I am very cautious still. Here's a little pic from yesterday I was tagged in, chasing down a cbr. Soo... After Donny I booked on a 2 dayer Jamie Whitham event at Anglesey last month, hell of a trek, over 300 miles each way, worth it though, had a really good time, my pace has improved that bit more. First time running the bike with clip ons and a fairing, love it! Here's a pic and the Youtube link
Thanks for watching StMarks, would defo go again, looking to see where I will book next, think I've got the trackday bug now lol.
