So Just phoned up a dealer (Splash Motorcycles) in St Ives as they have a very tidy 2009 Red Daytona with 6k on the clock for £5.5k so asked whether or not I could trade mine in against as more or less a straight swap with me maybe paying another £500 on top of the trade in only to be told no we don't want a bike that has cover 14k miles it's only worth £4.8k :x I mean how fucking rude are these people? I promptly told them they can shove 4.8k up their arse with a candle on it and also said that their Red Daytona is massively over priced if they are saying mileage on bikes is such a big downside to them.

I know bikes aren't like cars but FFS it's only 14k miles not like it's been round the fucking world is it! Fucking tempted to get the bloody subframe powder coated black and just buy some bloody red panels for all the hassle this shit is causing me. Seriously fucked off! GRRRRRR!!!!

i brought my daytona from splash with 15k on it for £4000 the owner barry is abit of a cock tho to be honest i only brought from him because he was the only guy who wld trade in my cbr 400 for half decent money.i wouldnt recommend him i took mine back thinking the engine sounded abit noisey (soon learnt this was the normal sound of a triumph) but he tried to fix it by letting the cam chain tensioner slip a tooth the result was when i took the bike away it was labouring very hard and rode like crap i didnt go back to him even tho it was under warrenty

I'd go that route if I'm honest, selling and buying normally costs. Why not get a quote for it, if it's under £1000 I'd go that route, you know your bikes history and you have the warranty.
Or try calling a breaker and get a quote for a full set of Red? Or the Blue is very nice too! Caspian blue with your blue frame?!

Thanks for the heads up on that mate glad it's not just me who thinks they are full of shit. I mean my bike might be at the higher end of the price scale but it's what you'd expect of a private sale and it has a two year transferrable warranty on it that has only just started this month so still under warranty for the next 23 months. I just get fucked off that they think they can pull your pants down over the price when i know full well that if it went back up on their forecourt it'd be up for probably around 6k. Complete bastards!

Fair point, didn't think of selling yours off, derr!!

You can try Speedy or call Stephen Diken, another breaker 07935 379368

Maybe they will PX your bits?!

  8. Nick have you noticed how many of your morning posts are in Rant and Raves ? How many coffees are you drinking in the morning ? LOL

Remember any dealer is a business and they want to make money wherever they can.

I would just keep the frame blue and get some red panels and maybe the white tank see what it looks like first look all patriotic and shit!

Just meet someone with a red daytona and have a wee swap afternoon see what it looks like.

to get your existing panels and tank done i was told triumph could do it for £250-350 give Jack Lilleys a call.

  9. mmmmmmmm.....Blue pannels with the blue frame would be nice :D

Thanks Gents will give Jack a call and see what the score is if they can do it for around that price might be worth while doing I know as soon as I change the sub frame the bike ceases to be a special edition but what would be more special is if Triumph had actually kept it a special edition and not bloody mass produced the things then at least they might be worth a little more money.

Oh and BDTD I drink at least 3 coffees before I hit the gym at 11am that's why you'll find I'm a little more chilled in the afternoons after I have taken out my rage in the gym. Of course if I was getting some at home then morning rage wouldn't be a problem but then the day that happens is the day I go skating in hell...

V-man I see what you're saying but do you go for the gold wheels too?

yeah kind of does dude as I would need to do a straight swap however if my bike sells first then it doesn't matter where I get the next one from to be honest.

  15. Regarding Splash Motorcycles in St Ives - I went there last month to have a look at the red 2009 Daytona. There was a lady on site who was very helpful but once I started discussing price with a view to purchase, the guy on site seemed completely uninterested. I wasn't exspecting to pay peanuts, but I also thought the asking price (£5,995) was too high. Because of this guys general disinterest and poor attitude, I walked away. You've got to question the level of after sales service you're going to get if they can't even be bothered to spend a bit of time with someone looking to make a purchase.

  16. Regarding red Daytona in Cambridge that martin675 mentioned - I thought about buying this bike but... it's '06 with almost 24k on the clock and service history only up to 12k service... apparently it's been serviced recently but there's no paperwork to confirm it. Price is £3950 with no room for negotiation. So it's not much of a great deal ;)
You would be better of getting mine in a straight swap ;)

If you want to talk about a straight swap dude I'm happy to hear what you have to say ;) Thanks for the heads up on the other one dude would really be looking for less miles than I currently have or around the same mileage but would need a full service history to accompany the bike I've been stung with cars in the past with only part service history.

Jack Lilley are being really helpful about all of this they have quoted me £1200 for a brand new full Caspian Blue replacement panels etc.

They also are talking to me about some second hand red panels they have excluding the tank but waiting to find out more details.

They also said the valuation of my bike at £4.8k by Splash Motorcycles is well under valued and have urged me to get their sales team to requote me on that figure.
