Luggage on the Daytona?

  1. Now that is a very nice thing to do mike. I'm in Epsom. Maybe meet up at box hill when it warms up a bit?

Sounds good Savage. Have you been to the Oakdene at all and met up with the rest of the team? Perhaps we should meet at Boxhill and head over there one evening when the sun is shining a bit harder :D

  3. Can't fault kriega stuff.
Used a US50 set up for euro trip last year, modularity is great, if you want to take differing amounts of gear on rides.

  4. Not been to the Oakdene mike so will be well up for that mate. Post up when your planning to do it and if my shifts allow I shall tag along. Cheers.

  5. I've got ventura..... Had it on 955i too so was just matter of buying rails and pack rack for 675. Can't fault it, 5 euro trips, no issues and very stable.
I know some people don't like having the rails still on when not using the luggage but guess having a black bike I don't notice them too much plus I'm too lazy to keep taking them on and off :D :D

For my 6 day trip in France back in August, I had the Kriega US20 and the Kriega US10 piggybacked onto it on the rear seat.

Having the Baglux tank cover allows me to use any of their tank bags, of which I have 5. In this pictures, it's the small Tweety bag, which is fine for wallet, mobile phone, puncture kit, spare gloves, and wallet.

  9. I did 8 nights camping around Europe this year. Its possible but tricky.
I got a 3 piece throw over pannier set which was good but could have been more waterproof, I was though doing 2000 miles travelling at high speed for long hrs in alot of crap weather. Online they were £90. Can't remember the name sorry..
I packed them up then had a small tarp folded up onyo of the rear bag then in waterproof bags I had my tent, sleeping bag etc whichbwas quite a lump and wad held down by several well placed bungees.
Tbh I didn't feel a huge difference in handling. I aldo had a tank bag... I was taking everything though, camping and cooking..
Looks a bit mad but it did really work... if your only doing the TT you won't need as much..

Love this idea dude - ordering some webbing on e-bay.
Super cheap, super practical and I can then easily use any bag I want :)

How on earth did you not notice any difference in the handling with that lot?!? Would have TOTALLY changed the center of gravity of the bike!

  12. Obviously changed a bit but nothing massive at all. I was hardly getting my knee down in the twisties or on a track with this setup but I still felt like I had loads control and I could chuck it around plenty. .

If the camp site has an office or its somebodys rear garden send your luggage by courier.

Excellent thread, one of the things I was concerned about with the Daytona was touring potential, it's good to know there are plenty of luggage options available.

  15. You can bolt lots to the bike and it makes very little difference to the handling or fuel economy. I used a Ventura Euro rally bag that weighed a bleedin' ton :D. The little tank bag was just for credit cards and change for tolls, plus my passport and driving licence which I liked to keep handy.

I've just bought some hook straps for my old US20. Where abouts did you fit the loop straps?

Haha, coincidence, I just ordered some today too, so I'd be interested to know!

Plan for 10 days camping in June is kreiga us20 plus us10. Bags connection tent bag bungeed into those, then a Bags connection tank bag. Might be tight...

If it's too tight I've a 50 litre dry roll bag, I might try and bungee that in using the kriega hooks on the rear subframe?

    Hi Greggy,

I fitted the US20 with the black side clip straps running them under the rear seat. I used the hook straps to attache the US10 to the loops on the US20.
