It's going to be a common theme on new bikes. Hideous exhausts. THe Ducati site actually lists the 959 and the 959 US version (underbelly)
@Red675 @Phill748 Cant find any mention of shock being sorted can you? Side Exhausts, no auto blipper, shock not sorted, no colour lcd all reasons i went for the 1299
Akros will mount under but thats £2600 for the system 899 termis at £1600 seem a bargain now The engine will no doubt be lovely and the new showerhead injectors should make it smooth as anything. I can't help thinking this is a warm up attempt before the tackle the 1299 for 2017 or the 1399 or whatever.
No mate, really disappointed actually, 1) with the quality of the presentation, and 2) no updated IMU with variable ABS etc which I thought it might get, no blipper, no updated display (not that anything is wrong with the stock one). Just think it's a little underwhelming. U will only be able to go under belly if u go full race exhaust, the slip on aftermarket side mounts are the only homologated ones and I can't see dealers letting bikes go out from pdi with anything else
Loving my 899 right now ;-) was a shit decision of mine to buy an 899 just as the 899 was being released, was convinced the 959 wouldn't offer anything the 899 doesn't have and looks like I was correct
If they gauge reaction to this and sell them with free underbelly akro offer then it'll be selling well
Saw 1299's, 1199's and 899's galore during the last two days of CSS in my neck of the woods. They all sounded fooking great too. Yesterday there was several mils of standing rain water on the track and I say good on those guys for riding those bikes in the atrocious conditions. That said, my 675 was incredible, especially when I put it all together today during level 4 - my head is still spinning.
I think I could ride closer to my limit on track with the 675, but I've not ridden the 899 yet so it's just a feeling. I'm not in anyway saying the 899 wouldn't be epic on track as I followed one for a few session and it looked incredible, it was just that the 675r was offensively good on track, an absolute weapon.
Sorry to take this way from topic slightly but I have a quick question regarding the new 959. How come Ducati decided to change from the 899 to the 959 in what......only three years of the 899??
2 years, I think the big driver was needing to make it euro 4 compliant, but also a chance to update it to match the look of the 1299. I think with the extra 55cc they are trying to bring the meet of the power lower in the range although we are discovering it's a fair bit heavier than the 899 (7kg by the looks of it) so a few are asking themselves why! I think if u have a 899 or a chance to buy a really lightly used 899 it's looking by far the best option!! If u want new then I guess people will be hoping for the Akrapovic exhaust which at least looks a little better!
I do think it's also a warm up exercise for Ducati. They wouldn't want their first stab at euro4 emissions compliant exhausts to be on their main flagship
