As it was owned by Black Horse (I had it on PCP) they took it back after i rejected it as not fit for purpose. Ducati UK then stepped in to get the bike back from Black Horse in order to stop it going to auction. Even though the dealer and DUK made it clear it was not safe to go back on the road they had to guarantee that BH wouldn't just auction it off. I believe it's now back with either DUK in Silverstone or in Bologna.

  2. Snowcat's second ducati died again... and again, and again.

And after the last one, when his lights died while riding in the night, he decided to change brands. I wonder what his next bike will be.

This is one unlucky guy! (or one crappy built bike?)

i really want a 1299 s at some point, but all the issues i see put me off big time. They make my Aprilia look like a Honda.

  5. Worth keeping things in perspective, I worry that some (not burrndownthediscos) posts are a little light on factual detail..

For example for all I know the guy with the veering bike could have bolted a load of shit like sat nav to one handlebar or he could be weighting paniers wrong, or could have hit a pothole and twisted the forks in the yoke.... I know all theory but with no details it's an easy assumption to say crap Ducati, or Triumph or Aprilia.

Im not blinkered to Ducati, had lots of bikes but my mates new fireblade has broken down 4 times in 600 miles! Who would have thought that!!

Not many people go on the internet to type about how everything is fine and dandy with their bikes.

Same as anything. Cameras. Shed loads of forum threads about peoples broken Sonys, Nikons etc. Few that say "Tickety boo!"

That's shocking service from Ducati USA it really is.

He has this on his site.

The problem I have come into now with Ducati is due to my online presence. They pretend to want to be more involved due to the videos and the negative effect they have on their brand. They want to talk about the bikes issues before I rant online about them, which makes sense. Maybe we can work together and turn the relationship upside and create positive content.

In my opinion he handled this all wrong. The reason this thread exists and I own a 1299 is because I took the exact opposite approach with my 899. It doesn't always help to go in guns blazing, raging about failures. I gave them a lot of time and understanding to look for the trouble with the 899. It couldn't be found. I can say hand on heart if i had been making Youtube videos and posting on my site about the whole thing, there is no way I would have got the resolution I got (and wanted). I think the thing to remember is that you are dealing with human beings, who really can't control if a machine is going to break or not. But, if you treat those humans with respect and communicate in a friendly manner, they can dictate whether you get things resolved to your advantage, huge whacks of good will and discount ;)

  8. He was at his 2nd bike in 1 year. How much patience could one have when in 12 month of owning 2 bikes, you were able to ride a quarter of the time, or even less?
When you spend even a penny on something, you expect to receive something in exchange. I think 1 year shows he had enough patience, more than I would have had.

Enjoying the reviews @Burndownthediscos wrote on the entire Ducati range I don't think he was much hampered by how much he could ride even with his own bike in the dealership.

I do think it's bad form from his dealer not to give him whatever bike he wanted from their demo fleet to use when his was in the shop.

I understand his feeling all too well and maybe my feelings would have been different had my dealer not been so apologetic and willing to keep me mobile on whatever the had available at the time. My 899 was away for nearly 3 months in 11 months of ownership but Ducati always kept me on a bike.

The Ducati guys with DVT should wear thicker stockings!!!:D

Seriously though, Isn't DVT Ducati's variable valve timing so wondering how does that make a bike veer left??

Lol its all gobbledegook to me tbh mate (I thought it stood for deep vein thrombosis too!) . I just get on the things and ride them, never been one for numbers and letters and all that malarkey unless its something thats left me agog with its beauty (and i dont think you could call this particular model a beauty!)

Hi folks just to point out I'm keeping running updates of 1299 related stuff on my website. Follow it or twitter or some other kind of methods if you're NSA.

Any way got the 1299 round to the back door of the studio to create a symphony!

Hi boys and girls I finally got round to publishing the first 1000 miles 1299 video. Have a wee gander on the site and let me know thoughts.

Apologies for the face and the monotone! Entirely the fault of the freezing weather. The monotone not the face.

  16. good little video,
just to say as well your blogs/experiences with both the 899 and 1299 was what finally sold me on getting a 1299 recently, and I am not disappointed,it was good to read the real life experiences of someone commuting in the UK
