Yep, I know, just need to get around to getting it done. MCT is a LONG way from me also so wondering whether to buy another shock and get the changes made to that one or get a tie bar to put in mine while the shock is out
My mate said it was like night and day, pretty sure there is an article about it in one of the bike mags??
I'm guessing that's Ex VAT, plus I need to ship it there and back which is another £30. So just trying to save up having had to do a major service on my car and two new tyres! Eek
Because it's probably deemed to be within 'acceptable' quality parameters for road use, which is kinda is, I can live with it if I need too. It's know where near as bad as the shock on my 2010 Daytona, that was horrific.
It's also an off the shelf solution from Sachs. I'd hoped they would have paid attention to the issue for the 959 but they obviously haven't. Essentially the oil can't move past the shims which are too wide in the canister locking the rebound phase.
It's all relative of course, the Ohlins on the 1199 www like having your arse stroked with a feather... Not that I would know, but I imagine it's pleasant
The dealer stickers are completely unacceptable IMHO, did he buy the demo or are they putting those on all new ones? Otherwise lovely bike!
Okay, kinda acceptable but I still would ask for them to be removed and proof the paint isn't marked under, I think I must be OCD though
No totally agree, would hate their logo plastered over any vehicle I would be riding. Would want that off strsight away!! However T_Daytona think your mate will be very happy
I'm not far off the first service with the big old girl. Been enjoying our extended Autumn up here in the North. I've used my loaf and stick to Sport mode for the commute, but i've changed all the throttle/engine settings to high (full power). I just find it more predictable even in the wet. Had a little slide the other day but the TC light flickered and everything went perfect again. I use WET mode for the car park. Thankfully the Akros are getting quieter (or i am getting deafer). I never got round to fitting the baffles anyway. I reckon I'm getting 100 -110 miles a tank at the minute. That's due to a few miles of my commute now being constant filtering due to roadworks. I'm going to keep using her until the Suzuki passes her MOT, then i'll use the bathtub if it's biblical rain/icy, 1299 if it's dry/damp. Two road bikes already isn't my thing. I don't like the idea of paying for something and not using it and I was thinking as i rode in the pissing rain this morning. Riding the 1299 on Supercorsas in this weather is really useful in helping you gel with and understand a bike. It was dryish on the way home last night and on the dry bits of road near home it was easy to remember why this bike is worth every single penny. Oh and a word on suspension. I backed it off everywhere but i've started winding it back in already. Putting the rear back 2 clicks off standard. THe rear on the 1299 also doesn't suffer from the vague/locking out rebound feel the 899 was prone to.
As always a useful update, thanks. I'm half considering trying to pick up a 1299 standard shock for mine, wonder if they are the same length etc....
oh dear. whats the trouble? never nice to see bikes like that unless they are going to/from a trackday
