Inbetween riding the mountain and watching the practice you can find places like this. The cottage behind has its roof held on with ropes lashed to the rafters which stick out of the walls. Once you've experienced the winds here you'll appreciate why! I had to let him have the number 1 spot, but we are, of course, both winners And someone obviously knew I was coming
I was looking for that cottage. Isn't it down by the sound? Gutted I missed it. Did you see the other really small house there?
its at Nairbyl, just south of Glen Maye where we were staying (west coast) and yes there was another tiny stone cottage there too.
Bugger. I was convinced it was by the sound. My mate told me places to go an obviously I got mixed up. He got speaking to the man who owns the smaller house. He's a pilot an goes there as no one can contact him so he can relax
Red i'm thinking of heading over next year on those exact dates. I'll be taking bike and missus in car with Jr. Can i ask how much you paid for accommodation as i imagine that will be the biggest cost!
We paid £29/night mate incl brekky. email this dude, he has loads of different types of accomodation/prices http://www.eventaccommodation.co.uk/ we stayed in a farmhouse just outside castletown and off the start line of the southern 100 and id recommend it - especially if youre taking the bin lid - nice and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of douglas and ramsey but still within a quick twist of the wrist on two wheels
I e just booked as well. Going the 7th till the 14th. Going to change the return date when more become available though as the wife will kill me otherwise. Already started the countdown timer on my phone haha. 362 days to go haha
have you seen next years datyes mate? Isle of Man TT 2016 will take place 28th May – 10th June. Practice Week 28th May to 03rd June 2016 Race Week 04th June to 10th June 2016 unless youre planning on a few quiet days after?
Yes happy with what we booked. Also happy if we can get a few quiet days. We only got a few days racing this time
Fair dos mate. was torn myself between having a few extra quiet days and seeing a bit more racing than I did this year. Opted for the latter in the end as im hoping the start of practice week will be reasonably subdued. ideally id have a month out there and a week either side of the tt but thats never gonna happen unless i win the lottery
Tempted... think I'm out of brownie points for next year, but 2017 might be up for it again. Bi-annual thing, unless the kids get into it that is!! Good price/shout on the accommodation, was a bit chilly camping, especially on the Saturday - although being next to the grandstand with road access to the outside of the course was good too - but for another £18 a night, worth paying for the accommodation so as not to have to lug the tent/put it up/down etc.
Is anyone still out there? Would you mind going to the Arai tent in the TT village/paddock and ask for a contact telephone number for when you buy a helmet from them but it doesn't get delivered to you? Cheers
We went Thursday to Monday red. The Thursday Friday was noticeably quieter. Not a lot mind but didn't seem as many idiots on the road. I only did the track twice. Once when I got off the boat at 6 am which was great an the other as part of the simon Andrews lap. Still some idiots about. Did loads of sight seeing but also got plenty left to do. One day we went from Ramsey to peel so against the track an my god that was terrifying. They were coming at us over blind crest on our side of the road an round corners on our side. Got off as soon as we could. Usually put our bikes away by 1pm at the latest as well. If I could I'd move there at a drop of a hat. Think the island is great. My mate has lived there for two years an the stories he was telling us about the community spirit an way of life is fantastic
