I would like to confess that I truly HATE cyclists,

Not all cyclists mind - I have no real problems with kids on bikes, mountain bikes, stunt bikes, BMX bikes and the like

The ones I really hate are the lycra clad, helmet wearing chwunts that insist on riding two or more abreast on their racing cycles on fast or narrow roads. It's only going to get worse as the TDF gets closer too... :x

This morning I needed fuel for the days run, so off I went to my local Morrisons, which is on a shopping estate and busy as hell. Queueing in and at the pumps even at 10am. So I queues up, pays up and heads of back to the dual carriageway, except I cannot get anywhere because lycra boy and his lycra chum are holding a side by side conversation at 10mph in lane 2.... They head on to the roundabout side by side, go around it side by side, and head down the dual carriageway side by side, still at 10 mph and still squatting in the right hand lane.

So - what do I do ? Do I follow them for just over half a mile to the next roundabout at 10mph waiting for some artic or blind car driver to hit my up the back end ?

Or do I break the law and undertake the selfish barstards ?

Well, of course I chose the latter. I also opted for first gear, lots of revs and to pass about 10mm from cyclist number 1....

No I am not proud, no its not big or clever, yes it gets us a bad name - but if the twats had behaved even half reasonably I would have given them all the room and more...

    I hate cyclists :D

I'd have hooted then gone past, and simply sat in front of them with my wiper jets on until my liquid ran out.

What naffs me off is that they want it always, ride on the roads, but red lights dont count for them?

Oh, I assumed you were in a car, sod that then, I'd have zoomed past them in an instant, clipping one with a mirror hopefully

I live on a rural country lane in the middle of nowhere. :)
    It should be peaceful. :)
    It isn't.. :(
Every Sunday, Bank Holiday, hell any bloody day it seems, gaggles of these lycra clad gits swarm past incessantly babbling on to each other as they stare transfixed at arse of the bloke in front. :?
Furthermore our little lane is only one car wide, so if you get behind a bunch in a car that's it. You're in for 4 miles at 20mph, 'cos they won't let you past. Ever.
If you are going in the opposite direction & meet a bunch of them, they will NOT give way & expect all vehicles to pull off onto the verge for them (despite the fact that they pay no road tax, unlike the other rod users).
If, like me, you are on a motorbike & pass them without giving heed they get VERY aggressive indeed.

Reminds me, I must get some more drawing pins.

Glad to see the OP has the balls to post the thinly veiled threats with his username shown.

Plenty of car drivers would complain about bikers being idiots, plenty of bikers ARE idiots. Same goes for cyclists.

I'm a cyclist but I know that evryone else likes to use the road too so I don't block anyone and I don't cause mayhem behind me either. Yes I wear lycra but only cos evryone else does

Lycra is functional for cycling....yes, you look like a trapeze artist wearing it, but it works well to wick the sweat off your body, and even works well in a crash because it allows you to slide better.

I thought it was to prevent chaffs, & to give the cyclist behind a clear view.

Lol...it does. Cycling is a niche sport - try pulling roughly 200 cactus spines out of hairy legs sometime and you'll know why I used to shave.....I still have a couple in there after 17 years- they make people wince!

Over her in Brisbane, Australia they've just pasted a law that you are not allowed to come within 1 meter from a cyclist in an up to 60 km/h zone and 1.5 meters above a 60 km/h zone, what a frecking joke. How do they enforce that.
We call them MAMILS. Middle Aged Men In Lycra.

Round our way we have an excellent network of cycle paths, yet the Lycra crew insist on not using them and riding on the road. Most of the paths run alongside the roads and have short cuts through to the villages. Why would anyone put themselves at the risk of being hit by a lorry, car etc. when they have a perfectly safe piece of Tarmac just for them. It is even split so pedestrians walk on a separate section.

Many a time vehicles are queuing behind waiting right time to overtake yet the cycle way is completely clear. No justification for them not using it, seems to be pure bloody mindless ness.

Only people that do seem to use it are the kids and those more leisure cyclists. It's almost as though these paths are not worthy for their huge egos

The sheer arrogance of it, how dare they use our roads at less than the speed limit. It could hold us up for all of a few minutes and as operators of powered vehicles we own the roads.

Grow up and get over yourselves. It's a few minutes of your day waiting for someone who has every right to be on the road.

Yep, it's a known fact amongst cyclists that a cycling path is about the most dangerous place to ride...you've always got some dickhead out with his uncontrollable dog, or some lass on rollerblades listening to rap music in her earphones who decides to do a spontaneous pirouette right in front of you.
I've been over 70mph on a bicycle numerous times...anyone feel like telling me I should stick to the paths for that??
And don't even bother with the tired 'road tax' argument, because it's pathetic...a pedestrian doesn't need to pay road tax to cross the street??

Learn to share the road, it's as simple as that.

    Cycle paths

    a) Are full of the shite and detritus from the road so cause lots of punctures
    b) Run out at every junction, so you have to either stop or run the gauntlet
    c) Are used by cars as soon as the road narrows and waiting for an on coming car would be too inconvenient.

I think some of the people on here who are too fat for lycra ought to get out of bed a bit earlier and stop being lazy if they are in that much of a hurry that being held up for a few minutes is a problem :)
