Seems like a low mileage bike to have a problem with the CTT.

It's your call. I've ridden bikes with a rattle chain. If the problem has only recently started then you should be ok, but if it does go you're looking at an expensive repair job.

My thoughts exactly, very low miles so I'm just hoping it is the CCT and not something else :| It certainly sounds chain-ey to me and is coming from the right side of the engine, all signs point to CCT. For the sake of a £50 manual cct I'll do it anyway and see if it solves the problem. The bike will be tracked eventually so it'll be a worthwhile mod anyway by the sounds of it.

I think I'll hold off, I should get the APE CCT tomorrow so will fit it first thing saturday morning and if it's ok go for a spin :D

I don't think I'd be any good now to be honest  I'm 27 now, last time I raced or was even on a track was when I was 19 and I had a nasty highsider out of Clearways at Brands on the R1 and it knocked my confidence a bit! I'm slowly getting back in to it though, but don't wanna push it too much on the road, I wanna get on the track really to learn the limits of the bike and get back in to it without having to worry about oncoming traffic and potholes

Had mine replaced today on the cbr. It no longer sounds like a ducati.

Welcome along Herisites, bike should sound a lot better with the manual cct fitted, mines quiet as a mouse now, as part of the problem can be that the chain can touch the casings internally, I wouldn't leave it too long before you do an oil & filter change.

Interesting point that you think the 675 feels a bit like your NC30, I've always felt mine feels more like a grown up RS250.

Have fun in the morning, and hope you enjoy the forum.

Cheers Deegee! I'm gunna be doing an oil and filter change at the same time as I want to also replace the stock sump gasket with the new design (which came with the pressure relief valve too) to prevent any oil starvation.

Yeah it does remind me of my old NC30 quite a lot actually, when mine was setup for racing I sat 'on it' rather than 'in it' and the 675 feels the same, plus it's light and the engine makes a similar noise. If I hadn't done the swap with my car for the 675 I think I was going to go for an old R1 but I think I'll have more fun with the 675 tbh!

Been reading a lot in to the CCT change, looks to be a doddle so don't think I'll have any issues with it. Only slight annoyance is I just ordered the APE CCT and not a gasket for it, so hopefully I can reuse the OEM one otherwise it'll have to be some instant gasket  I think I'll try Triumph first in the morning and see if they have the OEM ones in stock, I imagine it'll fit with the APE?

Should do, after all its the same flange on the engine. Good Luck with your local Triumph parts dept - nobody keeps much in stock anymore. :(

Quick update, just fired the bike up after fitting the APE CCT and the difference is night and day! It's so quiet now it sounds like a new bike :D

I took some pics and before and after vids too so when it's all back together I will post them up somewhere :)

Oh and the old CCT didn't have a gasket and the Triumph tech told me they don't need them as the o-ring seals it. I put a bit of RTV sealant on anyway to be safe.
