Welcome to the forum and good luck with your test Thats the sensible thing to do, i remember way back when i bought a lovely RD125 air cooled twin 4 months before my 17th birthday, after months of polishing and riding up and down the drive i eventually cracked and took it out for a spin and almost got pulled :?
Good luck with the tests buddy, on the day it's as much about how confident and comfortable you look on a bike as it is jumping through their test hoops, practice off road if you can on a old ratter - it does help sort out your balance. Wobbleybiker - air cooled RD125 dates you matey, cracking little bikes though!
Yeah, lets just say young at heart The RD125 twin was the last of the de-restricted 125's and felt like a rocket ship compared to my TS50. It was the first thing i'd ever saved up for myself, not easy on a 16 yo apprentice wage, unfortunately it was stolen 4 months later, i was devastated Imagine this but in blue
What year? About '79? I nearly bought an RD200 about the same time, but a mate got to it first. ops1: I never forgave him!
More like 1982, around the same time the restricted 125's came in. Funny story, when my 1st RD125 was stolen i replaced it with another, or so i thought. The seller said it had been converted to electric start and i was happy to have the only non-kickstart 125 until i tried to get it MOT'd and found out it was a 200 with 125 stickers :? Had to sell it as a 200 which were worth a lot less at the time
I did that to a Ford Anglia with a tuned 1500 lump instead of the asthmatic 997 slug it was supposed to have, oddly that was the only car i ever sold for more than i paid for it. i was on a GS750 by '82, obviously makes me an old fart.
Thanks everyone for their kind words. Looking forward to getting all the tests done and out of the way. Got another lesson tonight, and practice mod 1 tomorrow ready for MOD 1 on sunday. Hopefully get my MOD2 booked in straight away all being well with the test.
Bought a few bits for my bike recently. An arrow can from a fellow member on here & GB Racing engine covers, frame sliders & tank sliders. Getting the important bits sorted first, protection and noise
Good luck. I passed on my very worst attempt. Scrappy, a page full of minors. Felt rough. Just tried to ride for the moment and not focus on any mistakes. So stay cool and just crack on until the end. Its not over until the thr fat man with the tash in luminous colours says it is. I was surprised id passed on that attempt. However a warning to you be prepared for a life changing high speed affliction... Ive bought 3 bike in 9 months, spend all my money on bike bling and tracks and will be buying a 100 % track bike on return from tour.
Hope all goes well. Remember to cancel the indies and remember to do the lifesavers whenever you change lanes/direction.
Fingers crossed for you james.l Even if you don't pass, then it's good practice for when you pass next time.
