Agh local then, I'm just down the road in Trottiscliffe..... I moved from East Malling last year! I've only had my Daytona a few months now but I've also got a Street Triple R that I've had since late 2008, never had any trouble with the STR at all and have done 1500 odd miles on my Daytona including 2x trackdays. I couldn't be happier with either bike!!
There should be a lovely big sticker on the tank giving idiot instructions on how to run in a bike and what revs to stay at. If not, ask the dealer. You'll sooo enjoyed getting overtaken by caravans and peds for the first couple of days.
two trains of thought with running bikes in isnt there one is to ease her in gently the other is to rag the arse off it im with the latter, never kept any of my bikes below 6k during the running in period only one's blown up on me to date
To be honest, labouring a bike about when new ie. Only using very low revs can often do more harm than good...... The best way to run any engine in is to basically rev it as normal but NOT to over rev (buzz) the engine. Do that for the first 1000 miles and it'll be sweet!!
buy the new one if you can afford it mate.running in won,t bother you new shiney bike & a grin a mile wide
little update for any one who's interested. the Cbr went today. after making plenty of calls to quite a few dealers, my options are A) new 675 in red £8,500 otr (not struck on that colour) B) new 675 in white £8,750 C) from triumph maidstone, used white January 15 plate, 1,600 miles, comfy seat, crash protectors and quick shifter £7,200 (i offered £6,800 up to £7,000) will only sell at full price with a discount on a new arrow exhaust. i walked out of the shop at closing time closing time to have a curry and a beer and contemplate ready for a decision in the morning. Thanks for all the advice above
Personally I rev away, obviously not red lining it. Dont labour the engine and dont give it full throttle and you'll be grand. Brakes should be bedded in too. A guy that builds rally car engines told me its best to rev a new engine... just nothing extreme.
No, as it is. (i offered £8,500 for the white, but weren't having it) a couple of dealers both said that theres plenty of red but not many white left at the factory.
I know there are a fair few white 2015 675s in my local cmc for 7595 less then 9k on the clocks. Also have a look round at earlier models also if they are an option.
Well, then if that's the case I'd consider the used white one mate...... I'd go for that and treat it to the arrow!! Only as long as you was happy with the condition!
Go for the used one, sounds like you've decided on white and that's got a good £400 in extras, the quick shifter is a must
@Dal your one is a bargain at 7200 1600. It looks like it's got all the bits on it too (levers and brake fluid reservoirs) I think you'll want the arrow can as well though. I predict that'll be gone this morning
2nd hand one hold out for £6800 ring them Monday and say that's the offer and that you are going to view two others on Wednesday so be quick.. As for running in I think triumph have it wrong, 3500 rpm that's a joke and dangerous IMO I stick at 5000 ish for the first tank of fuel this is also scrubbing the tyres in which you won't at 3500. After the this I use the Rev range but kept below 10000rpm. Don't think a demo bike has been run in by a saint, lost count how many I have ridden with less than 100 miles on it and then been ragged.
They turned down £7,000 yesterday. I've been awake since 4;30 still torn, but edging with you guys towards the used. i noticed the levers this morning as well. the reservoirs are the metal ones.
