This jobs a bit overdue as I only recently bought a headstock stand, there was no play or notchy feeling before so just re-grease and set the bearing pre-load. No drama's removing the top yoke, luckily the nut wasn't stupidly tight, hinged the fuel tank back for easier access and less chance of damage. Think they were done maybe 6yrs ago at the dealer, still plenty of grease, looks a bit dark but no signs of contamination or corrosion. All cleaned ready for fresh grease, only the tiniest witness marks on the bearing cups, pre-load set as per manual, tighten nut to 40nm, back off and torque to 15nm. Haven't got facility to support the bike on the frame to drop the lower yoke (do people actually do this?) but if its still greased at least as well as the top bearing it should be fine. Didn't expect much change in the way it feels and there isn't, maybe slightly easier and smoother lock to lock on the stand but at least I know they're ok for another few years.
