Evening everyone. First post so go gently :D

I've got a 2008 Daytona which has been laid up over the winter and now it's MOT time again.

She failed last year as the brake light wasn't illuminating from the front brake, but by the time I rode her home again it was working correctly. MOT passed and everything worked for the rest of the year.

She's been in the garage since the end of November, on a trickle charge and now the same issue is back again. I'd assumed maybe corrosion, and or a faulty switch at the lever. Cleaned the connections and bought a new switch but no change. All other lights work correctly and the brake light works correctly from the rear brake.

I'd appreciate any suggestions on next steps to get this resolved and get out riding again!

  2. Check you have 12v on one side of the brake switch with ignition on.
If so check for 12v on the other switch terminal when its operated, if that's ok and still no brake light then could be the RH switchgear cable damaged or a faulty join in the wiring loom.
Have you tried it while moving the bars?

Oh, and don't have your MOT in March:p

Have you got aftermarket adjustable levers that are set on the first or last setting? The lever may be adjusted too far to activate the switch.

I seem to recall a similar issue in the past

I've found the two very piss poor connectors to the switch can snap, there's barely any copper in them.

I extended mine a bit and fitted some flag style connectors to the end, much better at staying in place.
