    Hi chaps..

    I'm back.

Later than expected due to insurance woes and winter, but I'm now shopping for a Daytona again.

I've found one in blue and gold, 2011 plate, private seller, 8k miles, FSH, arrow exhaust and the like. Quickshifter etc. Looks lovely in the photos.

It's up for 4950 but he says he would take 4500 cash for a quick sale. What are your guys thoughts on this? Sounds good value to me.

I'm happy to PM you the advert for any pointers if I can trust you not to jump on my sale haha!

    Thanks,

    Tom

P.s. it's crying out for a tail tidy - how easy are these to come by?

  2. I got almost exactly the same minus the QS but it did have a tail tidy, in Feb 14 I think it was, maybe 15 I can't remember now, for 6k.

So it could well be a steal! Also the caspian with gold is the fastest

You can send me the ad, I won't steal it I promise

Welcome in and good luck finding a bike. I'm on a black with gold wheels model, cracking cracking bike. Absolutely love the Caspian blue ones, would of gone for that if mine didn't come up first.

I've just bought a Caspian blue . . . again lol. I had one 2 years ago but sold it for various reasons. Definitely the best colour.
Mines a 2010 with 5k full service. Arrow can and lots of carbon. Paid 3500 for it. It's a cat d but you can't tell, it's immaculate.

Thanks chaps, how much do you think a 12,000 mile service would cost - and what does it consist of? I can do oil etc myself. Is it valve clearances? Ta!

  9. Muddy sump will do it for just under £400 all in

  10. Oh and there's nothing wrong with my spelling, it's you that misspells blue

Ahhhhh I so want to! More insurance bashing in the morning and if all goes well I'll be seeing it next week while I'm over that way.

The hard bit will be getting it home. I have no idea how I'll make that happen! Last thing I want to do is ride it in rain / cold / ice but then I am a fairweather fairy....

    Cheers

  14. Ride it! Great opportunity to get a feel for it and then u have the excuse of spending a couple of hours cleaning it and checking everything over on it

    Yeah good point haha.

What's the difference between the R models?

Someone just told me that non 'R' models don't come with a quickshifter?

  16. Opposite way round, the standard bike didn't come with a quickshifter, it was a factory extra. The R model has full Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes and all the carbon bits added that are extras for the standard bike.

I've had both, a caspian blue 2010 and a 2013 675r and loved Both but the engine is better on the road on the earlier bike i think, it also makes a much better noise

Interesting stuff guys, I've managed to get a quote of £430 TPF&T which seems reasonable, once I have 5 years NCB. (In 2/3 months)

You don't think I'd kick myself buying a 2011 675 and it's not the 'R' version do you?

Should sound good with the arrow and shifter anyhow!

    Cheers all.

  18. Well, the 'R' is a fantastic spec and often used can be had for £300-400 more, however u have to like white... and personally I don't even though I had one. My Caspian Blue was stunning with the exception of the suspension needing a good set up, which can be done in time.

I think I'm still paying £350 fully comp on my current bike with max no claims and living in a pretty safe area so I would say £450 ish is pretty good with less NCD.

The Daytona is actually fairly pricey to ensure I found, due to a number of things such as frame lugs that break easily in crashed and the fuel tank edges exposed, there was an article on it in one of the mags.

    It's all relative though!!!

If your happy with a nappy then your in for fun.....: as the 'R' is pretty much only available in TOWIE white.!

Although the brakes are upgraded to Brembos, the OEM ones are not lacking in any way whatsoever. Fwiw I have the 1st edition with the "inferior" gold calipers, & they feel like they are burrowing a new channel tunnel when used firmly.
The Ohlins rear shock is an improvement, however if you ask the many racers on here most of them would actually choose a better spec' Ohlin, /or a different make, to achieve the ultimate performance.
Talking of racers, I think you'll find that (all.??) of them are using blinged-up base model, and not 'R's.
    Hth.
