  1. If you can pay a bit extra and go for a 2009-12 model. Unless you find an older one with more extras.

The 09 upwards have a taller first gear, more adjustable suspension, better brakes, lighter weight, more revs and a little more power.

Since you'll probably upgrade some of these later, it probably doesn't matter too much though.

It will be the best bike you've ever owned!

Thanks for your input guys. As much as it's a possible bargain, I'm going to hold out for something I'm 100% on. The red does look brilliant but it's not my first choice. Plus I do prefer bikes to have been in use not sat up for a couple of years (Maybe silly I know! - At the end of the day you gotta treat yourself! This time I want to do it right lol) I may well end up with a newer model, unsure just yet.

    Cheers,
    Tom

Okay, so I've just seen this..... 14 miles away from me. 2011, 11k miles. In a colour to die for IMO! Genuine beauty. My god I love it. I still need to get some test rides sorted but this is the exact sort I fancy I must say! I do kind of want to wait a couple of months for some better whether, plus I'd be able to sell my hornet with ease. I don't think bike prices jump up too much based on my experience it's more of a myth! We shall see guys. This is what I'm aiming for lol.

  4. Lovely example. I've not seen a caspian blue that doesn't have the newer dashboard (which is a big improvement). I loved mine, am an idiot for selling it.

However you should definitely make sure the 12k valve check is done on this bike if u do go for it! It's roughly £350-500 service if needed but often doesn't get done if the mileage is low, it's specified every two years, hence why not done because the bike won't need the valves checked at 6k miles for example!

My preference is blue & gold or black & gold I must admit. Pure sex wee!

    Thanks again for the pointers!

  8. Welcome to the forum, great idea to join before buying the bike;)
I moved to my first 06 Daytona after passing my test and spending 2 yrs on a Hornet, although 22yo is a distant memory:(
It will feel very different to the Hornet especially at low speed, higher seat, less steering lock and more weight on the wrists but you'll soon get used to it and will feel more natural at higher speeds.
Not sure if your age will limit test rides, it was a condition on mine that you had >2yrs full license.
Everything has already been covered regarding spec and what to look out for, but i would also say don't discount the earlier bikes, it may leave more cash left over for insurance and new riding kit to match your new bike, i felt weird in textiles on a sportsbike.
I'm going to contradict myself now and say that caspian blue looks superb though, i think i spot a TOR end can on it as well.:bang:
The minute they started my 06 and i heard the noise i was sold before the test ride:clap:
    Happy hunting

Like all above go with the daytona i brought mine at 22 knowing nothing about them or never test riding one. Later on i brought a cbr 600rr as a second bike and sold it 4 weeks later as it was soleless compared to the daytona.

  10. I saw a caspian at my local dealer, practicality fell in love instantly. That colour is just sooooooo good!

My utter mistake was then taking it for a test ride.

Got back to the shop and the deal was pretty much done.

They are a good bunch of guys actually and known them for a while, bought my previous bike from them. So a day or so of negotiations and got a deal sorted for px. Haven't looked back since.

The only thing lacking was crash bungs and a quick shifter. Both of which are sorted now.

Go test one. You won't regret it

  11. Where abouts are you based? The dealer I got mine from has 2 blacks in. One pre and one post facelift

  13. I don't mean to be overly cynical (it's my nature) but does that not seem just a bit iffy? My spidey sense goes mental at spelling and grammar mistakes in ads, but that may just be me!

I mean if it's legit that's a smart looking bike at a reasonable price. It's a pre facelift so no plug and play QS if that's your thing. You can still get one though!

I think it's a little over priced to be honest

  15. I'll defer to bigmacs knowledge on the price front, I didn't shop around and research prices for mine hahahah
