Just like you folks in the UK have just enjoyed two days of motorbike fun in fantastic dry sunny weather. Had a trackday on Friday to practice at Assen on track with Some much faster people, not that many were not faster than me.Was 7 seconds off my best from last year, not only was I feeling it physically from recent highsider but also mentally, unexpectedly. Saturday I decided to just be happy to have fun on the bike and not expect to much given the circumstances.Q1 came in 4th and Q2 ended up 8th,also unexpectedly. Off the start line was a bit too keen with my right hand and had the front wheel in the air which lost me time and positions. Went for every half chance on the first lap and up to 7th. Which is where I finished, though i was passed on the second from last lap someone ahead got a time penalty so lucky me. Not a bad start, next round in a fortnight and i should be in better shape. Can’t wait.
Considering you only just had that highside, that's more like a great start than "not bad" imho Nik. I'm quite surprised that you're healed up well enough to have even considered it, it takes me a lot longer than that to recover and my self-confidence longer still.! Looking forward to reading about a successful season from you .
Thanks StMarks.have to say that physically the qualification sessions were the worst so only did 4 laps of each session with a view to saving my energy for the race. The adrenaline really helped in the race though still not really up to the speed I can ride. I’ll let you know how the next one goes, aiming for top 5.Ever the optimist.
